I purchased a PS2 Silver Edition after researching and discovering that it has different hardware than all the other PS2s (a quick look at the wiki can confirm). I have had it for over a year and have had zero problems. In fact, some games do seem to run better on this unit than other PS2s, though admittedly the effect is minimal, but hey, every bit helps!Overall, it IS the best PS2 version ever made. What else can be said?

I got this PS2 sliver when my black ps2 die and I was really sad and unhappy but when I found this omg I was truly truly happy with it yaaaaaaaaay same old like the ps2 black well to me it is and work really amazing for something old yay, But I got this one for a friend who live in USA and he really love it and work really amazing and came ship safe and sound for sure.

If you didn't read the exact dimensions of this product, when you receive it, the tiny size will amaze you. It's got all the goodies the old PS2 has + a built in network adapter. So it's online ready soon as you get it. Although the PS3 can play PS2 games, but it's better to save that expensive PS3 for Blue-Rays and PS3 games rather than burning it up on PS2 games. One scratched up rented game will kill you PS, that is how my old PS2 died.The only thing missing in this package is a wireless controller. The machine looks beautiful on your stereo rack, but with short controller wires coming out, you have to put it in between TV and you. Sony is already making wireless standard on PS3, why not put it to use here as well. Well today I was just curiously reading through the ps2's low review ratings and I read a couple of things that i found interesting. for starters i'll tell you about my experiences with ps2s. I bought my first ps2 from an EB games in june of 2001 when i was 13 so it was about 8 months after the north american release on the system. And to this day, I've never had any real issues with my ps2 it still plays games and dvds well to this day. the only problem i ever had with it was it wouldnt play the older blue back discs but this was due to a lens focus problem. which is an easy fix if youre comfortable with taking your ps2 apart. also there were complaints with the durability and longevity of the ps2 and my comment on that is my ps2 has been dropped, pulled off my tv stand, sat in the trunk of my car in the middle of winter, got all wet while i was carrying from my car to my house in the rain, has been on for days at a time in the middle of august on the hottest of days and never overheated and worst of wall i had it in a bookbag and dropped it down the the last the steps of the stairs in my house... and theyre hardwood not carpeted steps. so all in all my ps2 has seen some serious abuse and still entertains me to this day 7 years later. sorry i never mentioned it but the ps2 i just talked about was the large original ps2.Now for what i think of the slim ps2. my sister got a slimline for her birhtday last july. and she has yet to ever any of the problems people have talked about in their reviews. she plays it daily and it works like a finely tuned machine. and as for durability with the slimline hers sits on a stand by her tv and its never been dropped or anything as far as i know and she leaves it on all the time and shes yet to ever experience any over heating issues. its never brought up the disc read error screen and plays most games... but the reason behind that is sony has updated the slimline over time with new hardware and lens that there are some compatibility issues with playstation 1 and playstation 2 games but sony has the games that that dont work posted on the playstation website. Well i dont have much more for today... i hope this helps you feel a little more comfortable about buying a ps2... its a really great system and i highly reccomend this system to anyone looking for some good entertainment with a huge library of games availible that comes at a very reasonable price considering the ps3 is going for $400 where as the ps2 is only $129.99. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful

There has been a PS2 in my house since I can remember; the big bulky one that first came out. Well, when my sister moved out, she took it with her and while I would have loved to sprung and gotten a Playstation 3, it just wasn't in the budget. I grabbed up this one for the low price, and the cool silver color. The fact that it comes with the network card already in it, as well as the sensor for the remote, really is nice. The system runs MUCH quieter, and while I usually don't prefer the pop-open style cd area, I know that there were problems with the motors going out on the old PS2s. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase - yay for still being able to play my Final Fantasies and Guitar Hero!
