Ok, this game is one of the best reasons to buy an internet modem. You can make a clan while playing online. You get to invite or expel people to join this clan. With the usb heaset you can communicate with team mates or ur human teamates with the headset. It is a first and a third person view. By pressing the d pad you can change the wiews. You shoot with L1 and change to different weapons with L2. There are over 30 weapons!!! In the single player there are 12 missions. Which you try to stop terrorist. (i am not being very accurate on the stoy) I recommend this to everyone who wants a good action and internet game!!!!

This game is a good game, i like how it shows you a documentary it really gets you pumped up for the game. It lacked a couple of things (nothing major though), such as you can't train or try to practice the game before going into a real live mission, usually on war games you get to do training but on this one you dont, another thing is that it doesnt have difficutly it just has one difficulty level. Its still a great game and out of five stars I rate it 10.
I was curios though about the headsets, do you only use them for online play or can you use them for missions???

this game is very linear. it does this because it wants it's players to lie in wait and stalk their enemies. no save feature. single player greatly hampered by lack of headset. unfortunately with only a four man squad the size of the engagements is quite limited and obstacles are often overcome by simply pouring firepower into the charging enemies. the greatest challenge lies in dealing with CQB and the dualshock controller. some people argue it is a better game than ghost recon. i strongly disagree. firstly you can plot waypoints on a map for your teammates in ghost recon--meaning that executing simple things like pincer attacks isn't hard. in SOCOM, you would have to be attacking on a waypoint or have line of sight for each movement order you were to give. that's just primitive. secondly, the cooperative multiplayer (meaning not just deathmatch multiplayer as in SOCOM) are good reasons as to why Ghost Recon will be the reigning ground combat-sim champ in my collection.

How does Socom compare to it's sequel?
I was planning on getting Socom 2 but if i can save money for basically the same game, I might as well. SO just wonder how the first socom compares to the second.

Nothing like it
Socom is a amazing. The online is great it has that almost real feel for it, there ain't nothin like it!!!!
