This is the third set of wireless headphones I have bought in recent years - all used to listen to TV without bothering my housemates. The first two sets were Sennheiser. So why switch to Sony?

The first Sennheiser used an analog RF link that provided good audio, but the adjustment to get the receiver to lock to the transmitter was touchy, and the range of the set was considerably less than advertised. Also, while it was happy using AAA rechargeable batteries, there was no provision for charging them without removing them from the headset. This necessitated keeping a supply of charged batteries on-hand. Nuisance.

The second Sennheiser was a much more expensive set that used a digital RF link. The sound was of excellent quality, and the headset's rechargeable batteries were kept charged as long as I remembered to put the headset onto its charging cradle now and then. However, the headset controls were positioned very badly. For example, leaning back into a cushion or moving my head while using them often resulted in them resetting themselves, usually with a big audio level increase. This was a constant nuisance. Also, there was no visual indication that the headset was On or Off, thus resulting in dead batteries from time to time. Far more serious was that the material used to pad the crossover band on the headset was a foam plastic with a shiny plastic film fused to it. Looked good, but after a fairly short time, the shiny stuff started to flake off. I wrapped the entire crossover piece with electrical tape. Didn't look good at all, but it stopped the black dandruff I was plagued with for awhile. But then some months later, the same thing started to happen with the foam cushions on the headphones themselves. This stuff got everywhere, so I finally junked the headset.

I bought my last pair of wireless headphones about 6-7 years ago and these far surpass the quality of my old ones. I am hard of hearing, so I typically just keep my tv on mute, and use headphones instead. My old headset had a manual dial-type tuner. I did not realize that when I bought them, and it's difficult for me to tune accurately. These ones have an auto tuner button, and it works much better for me. It was super easy to hook/set these up on my own. I appreciate the charging capabilities of these. I went through a lot of batteries on my old set. I don't watch that much tv - 1/2 to 1 hour daily, perhaps, so I'm hoping these will last me for a long time before I have issues with the batteries. The charging system is easy to use and understand. The set is comfortable to wear and easily adjustable. I find that depending on what I am watching, sometimes the volume doesn't quite go high enough for me ... keep in mind that I have profound hearing loss, but even so, the volume went higher on my old set. These ones I've been keeping on 8-10 (10 being max) depending on what I'm watching. If you have a high level of hearing loss, you may find the volume doesn't go as high as you might like. I'm sure there are better quality headphones out there, but for the price, these are excellent.

This product is exactly what we were hoping for. My husband can listen to the TV comfortably at his hearing level without disturbing anyone else. He does have a little trouble with the volume dial as it seems small fr his fingers.
Great product, very satisfied.

Bought these headphones about 2 years ago while travelling, otherwise I would have returned them. Price was right and being Sony I thought this was a safe buy. Headphones are very comfortable but static is sooo LOUD as to make them completely useless. Range seems to be OK if in the same room but any wall or even a glass door gives static bursts. Cannot comment on battery life as I have not used them long enough to drain the battery even once due to the loud static.

Some static on all channels, but the worst part is the volume varies up and down while listening to music. Parts of music too loud then the volume will decrease to the point of being too low, and you can hear the musics volume decreasing or increasing as you listen, extremely annoying. I would recommend you avoid buying this article at all costs. If you do decide to buy this item check your return date, I bought this as a Christmas gift and I ordered it about a week before the return date, now I'm stuck with this $80.00 piece of junk. I bought this item based on all the good reviews, which I really don't understand.
