Ordered these last night because my headphones died on me a few days ago (two days before my gig lol). Got these with the amazing AmazonPrime 1 day over-night shipping, and received it this morning at 10AM. Quickest shipment I've ever received, and have been "burning" these in since then.
At first, I wanted headphones that were not expensive at all, and I could use temporarily for my gig coming up as my regular headphones were sent for warranty service. However, I believe I may be switching to these as my main pair of headphones for DJing, as well as enjoying music/movies regularly. They sound a lot better than I thought they would (since they were compared to beats very very often, and I hate beats...), and could compare and are possibly better than a lot of headphones out there for the $100-$250 range. If you have the volume pumping like I do most of the time, you can definitely feel the vibration from these headphones as the bass kicks in, which is pretty awesome and yet it doesn't sound over-powered and muffled.
These are ON EAR headphones, not OVER EAR. I got them thinking they were Over-Ear as that's what I've used all my life, and hated the idea of ON EAR headphones because I thought they looked very uncomfortable. But I must say, for my first pair of on-ear, they've changed my opinion of on-ear headphones as a whole. They're pretty comfortable!
I'd say the isolation is decent, I could cue pretty well with these.Read more ›
However, In the past, I have paid a fair bit of money for Bose headphones (non noise cancelling) I was pretty enthused by their sound, however, after TWO pairs of them broke during normal use, and a few dalliances with Sennheisers, I realized that sometimes, more is not better.
I came into this purchase looking to buy a pair of 100 dollar headphones with a decent build, and I was kind of surprised to see that only Sony really offers that. I am not a Sony fanboy, and was willing to shift brands after my last set of phones (Sony... MDR-V500? I think?), but it seemed like I was stuck paying too much money for Bose or Sennheisers, or buying Skullcandy or some other overly cheap and replaceable brand.
This set of phones stood out, mostly because of their apparent sturdiness in the picture. the reviews were favourable, but it seemed like they'd all been written by people who "are DJ's". I mean, I know that these are listed as 'DJ style"... but I think that that's kind of silly. They are MDR-V55s.
And they sound fantastic. I listen to a lot of different styles of music, and I was worried that these would be the standard overly bass sounding junk that headphone companies seem to think is important these days. (looking at you, Beats.) The bass on these IS there, but it's not so heavy that it rattles you. the mid range is healthy, and the highs are ok, but I can make the switch between listening to bass heavy stuff like Pendulum or Daft Punk and softer bass stuff like Zeppelin or Foo Fighters. What little rap I listen too sounds ok too, so there's that.Read more ›

Overall Good headphones. I should have done more research as these are on the ear not over the ear headphones. Can hurt after a while of wearing them.Published 25 days ago by Amazon Customer
For shame Sony. When you think you're buying "DJ" style headphones, you'd think you'd get the 1/4" adapter with it. Or even a bag to put them in. WRONG!!! Read morePublished 1 month ago by Amazon Customer
