The SRF-59 is lightweight, simple-to-use FM/AM stereo receiver. Weighing only 3 ounces (84 grams), this compact player is a perfect companion for the track, bike trail or work area. The FM antenna is part of the headphone cord, so you are sure to receive a strong signal. The AM antenna is a ferrite bar type. The local/distant switch will help you fine tune the reception. Both the volume and tuning buttons are rotary dials, providing a nice sight-free way to make major changes to the Walkman.
Sony has included their MDR (micro dynamic receiver) headphones with the SRF-59. These headphones are open air type; the headphones will allow ambient noise to filter into the ear canal, providing a rich sound and keeping you safely aware of events, people and automobiles around you. The headphones provide ample dynamic range and sound. The Walkman requires only one AA battery, keeping the receiver lightweight and inexpensive to operate. When using a Sony alkaline battery, you can expect an impressive 100-140 hours of use. There is also a belt clip included, so you can carry the Walkman on your belt. The color is a sporty silver.

I love this little radio! Very simple to use, in fact it only has an ON/OFF switch, a band selector switch (AM/FM), a rotary switch to select the radio station you want to listen to and another rotary switch to adjust the volume. It comes with real Sony headphones (NOT earphones) which I like, since I hate sticking things in my ears. The headphones are easily adjustable and stay in place while I am jogging on the treadmill at the fitness club. The headphones have a removable sponge-like cover which you can wash. The radio is very light-weight and has a detachable belt-clip. In fact, this radio is so light-weight that I just clip it unto my exercise shorts (no belt) and it stays in place while I am jogging. Another thing I like is the fact that the radio only uses 1 AA battery and it seems to last a long time. The sound quality is AMAZING and this little thing can really pump out the sound. I guarantee that you won't be able to listen to it at full volume.
Summary: If you are looking for an inexpensive but good sounding and light-weight radio you can listen to while jogging, walking, working out or even doing housework, for under $20, you can not go wrong with this radio.

Sony SRF-59 FM/AM Radio Walkman with Sony MDR Headphones
This radio has very good reception and can get distant stations. It is small and very portable and packable. I use it to lull myself to sleep in bed, when I am walking the dog, among other times. It is easy to pack when travelling. All in all a fine companion

I have tried several different brands of pocket radios. This is the one I like most. The size and weight are perfect for listening when walking. It only needs one 2A battery. Highly recommend.Sony SRF-59 FM/AM Radio Walkman with Sony MDR Headphones

Nothing fancy, but works well
Good battery life. Serves my purposes of taking a radio along on walks or bikes. It has good sound and is easily adjusted.

Maybe because it is an inexpensive Walkman compared with one from quite a long time ago The sound is rough and at first it refused to click into station. Not bad but not Walkman
