5.0 out of 5 stars Twisted Metal: Black, July 7 2004
This review is from: Twisted Metal: Black (Video Game)
After 989 Studios destroyed the previous two installments of the Twisted Metal franchise ( parts 3 and 4 ), the original team gathered again to bring back the greatness that was Twisted Metal and Twisted Metal 2: World Tour and turn it into macabre masterpiece. For all of those who are claiming that TMB is 'too simple': try taking the settings off of 'easy'. If you're a die-hard RPG fan who likes nothing other then that genre, then Black is probably not for you. Those who are easily bothered by a little violence should probably stay clear of the game as well. Nothingness, Twisted Metal: Black is my favorite game for the Playstation 2 to date. The graphics are great, the sound-effects are awesome, and the music is excellent... And the game is just really fun. It's cheap too now, so yes, I highly recommend :)

5.0 out of 5 stars What is wrong with Incognito's minds., Jun 21 2003

...I played this game about three weeks ago for the first time and all I could think of at night was sweet tooth muttering "All the people I didn't kill." This is truly a Freaky...game. Do not get this for your child if he is under 13. I hvae beaten it w/ every character and all of the stories are psycotic. To Mr. Grimm's flesh craving, to Sweet Tooth's head, everything has a story behind it. Everyone is a freak except Raven and Agent Stone.

This is the most sadistic, physotic game ever...and I wouldn't have it any other way!!!

Many people seem to love these car-combat games. I bought into the hype, an without ever playing these kind of games, I bought TWD.

First, make no mistake. The handling is difficult. When I read the reviews I thought this refered to turning, speed, etc. Those aspects are fine. But the "energy attacks" require a very quick thumb. With Sweetooth shooting up your backside, how do you have time to drop a landmine with the D pad, while steering with the l joystick? There are other settings, but if the default is akward, what should one expect?

I also understood the graphics to be superb. Maybe I didn't realize that these were from a first generation ps2 game... compared to the original ps, these graphics are quite good. Compared to anything else I've played, I'm not impressed.

It is very difficult. I haven;t played past easy (though, to be honest, I haven't played more than a few hours total). Younger kids seem to find humor in the cut-scenes. I find boredome. Every reason for participating in the game is revenge. The first cut-scenes are repetative.

That all said, the game seems to have potential. The levels are usually large, and free ranging. My only complaint is that you can shoot through a house, or simply run it over. I drive an underpowered car in real life, but the best I could do is put a small hole in the side. Even w/ a machine gun, I doubt I could do much more damage. This is a game, but couldn't the physics be a bit more realistic?

I am not completely dissapointed with this game, but I wish the graphics were better, the AI a bit less apt to shoot you from behind, and the controls a bit more intuitive.

If you know and love these type games, I'm sure that you'll at least like this one. If not, please hear from a gamer that prefers platform/sport/rpg games. This is the best driving destruction game???
