Product Description

Sorcerers of War is the tale of a mismatched band of knights, wizards and adventurers as they embark on a dangerous quest to save a fantastical realm from evil sorcery!

As a child, Conrad Hikes dreamed of becoming a knight of the Kingdom of Yaul. His childhood friend Kallum always wished he would become great sorcerer.

And now, in a strange twist of fate, both their dreams are coming true. Yaul is going to war against the ancient and savage nation of Argate.

A dark legion gathers at Yaul's borders, waiting to rain fire and death down upon the peaceful cities of men, elves and dwarves. The kingdom will need every swordsman and sorcerer it can gather if it is to survive the coming storm.

But the gods have a stranger destiny planned for Conrad and Kallum. Something stirs among the ruins of the long-dead Empire of Torsan. Secrets that have long been forgotten by the world of mortals are once again being whispered in deep dungeons and crooked towers. And so, aided by a fanatical wandering warrior-priest, a mysterious elf, and a pickpocket who may have her eye on more than mere coin, the pair set out on a dangerous quest to unravel an ancient mystery.

Their travels across the fantastic war-torn world of Wezmire, see them battling dragons, demons and villainous sorcerers. If the companions succeed, they will strike a crucial blow against some of the world's most evil and secret powers. And if they fail, the world will plunge into a nightmare of darkness and chaos from which it may never awaken.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended, Jun 24 2009

I really enjoyed this book. It was the first thing I'd read by this author, and now I'm seeking out some of his other work (nothing else on Amazon?)

The author's talent is in the descriptive writing which really gives you a feel as if you are in the book. The twists and turns aren't obvious, and the friendships between the main characters are believable and interesting.

Fantasy fans will enjoy this as much as I did. Recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars No soul, Jun 3 2009

This is your basic sword & sorcery story. Two friends: One a knight and the other a mage, grow up, learn their skills and go to fight the bad guys. There is nothing new, exciting, or interesting about this story. I don't write that many reviews but I was really excited about this book and the story line summary -it was the kind of fantasy I enjoy reading. Well it is just 2 dimensional and very short, simple writing. It does not have the pros or the emotions to make it fun, interesting, or exciting. In over 30 years of reading, I think I have only not finished 4-5 books. I got about 1/3 of the way through this book and simply did not care about the characters, the story, or what was going to happen next.
