The Sorcery Within, Jan 20 2000

This is an excellent book which I have reread many times while waiting (in vain) for the third book in the series. The story of a brother and sister sent on a quest to save their country is juxtaposed with the love story of their parents. Both stories are exciting with great character development, evil dragons and suprising twists. Smeds wrote the second book (Schemes of Dragons) years ago and I wondered if he felt it was too big to pull together into a conclusion. Please try. Bring back the twins as central characters, I missed them!

This is a well written, imaginative book with a strong plot line and well developed characters. I first read this book in the late 80's and when I realised that it was the first of a series I eagerly watched for the rest of the storey. The second book, "The Schemes of Dragons", which I recently found on the internet, is interesting, but an obvious bridge to the last book. The only problem, where is the third book? If you need closure, don't start this series. If you know about the last book, "The Wizard's Conscience" tell me! A full endorsement for the whole set, a disapointment otherwise.

I picked this one up at a used bookstore and am very glad I did. It took me about half the book to figure out the relationship between all the different characters that he referenced. It definitely captivated my interest and I finished it in one day. Now I'm going to have to go back to that store and find books 2 & 3.
