Fantastic paranormal series, Jan 24 2010
By Love Romances and More "Danny" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Soul Magic: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
Wing Slayer Sutton West promised himself to end his life as soon as he looses control of his bloodlust and he realizes that this point of time is nearing.
Two years ago Carla's twin sister was killed by rogue witch hunters. When Sutton meets her, he fears that the attraction he feels for her might be the first step to loosing control. After he saves her from a rogue attack, they discover that her twin sister Keri is trapped in the knife of rogue hunter Styx. Carla and Sutton team up to save Keri's soul. But who of the twins is his soul mate?
Ms. Lyon created with the world of the Wing Slayer Hunters, a world like no other I have encountered before. From the first page I was absolutely captivated by the story and it took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride. I really suffered with Sutton and Carla while the story progressed and see how they overcome the obstacles that are thrown into their way.
Although it is possible to read SOUL MAGIC as a stand alone, I recommend that you read BLOOD MAGIC prior reading this book, to get the whole background information about the Wing Slayer hunters.
I can hardly wait to see whose story will be next, because this is one of the best paranormal series that I have read in the last couple of years.
If you are looking for an extraordinary paranormal romance with terrific characters, look no further and get your copy of SOUL MAGIC today!

Another Wing Slayer bites the dust! (of love that is!), Nov 1 2009

This review is from: Soul Magic: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
I really liked Blood Magic, it was a completely different concept and I was intrigued with the curse and blood lust. Axel and Darcy's story was riveting, I think in part because of the author introducing everything and everyone. Sutton and Carla's story had a different taste to it, one of regrets, grief, friendship.
Carla and Sutton have tried to stay away from each other. Sutton is sure he will lose the battle to the curse very, very soon. Carla is trying to move past the grief of her twin sister's death and continue to help the clinic that she works at. Sutton and Carla took a long long time to get together. In fact there was flirting, but not much romance in the first 2/3rds of the book. I found it refreshing to say Murder Game where the hero and heroine fall in the sack within the first two chapters. Carla has just been contacted by her dead sister who was bound into a Rogue's knife, she's also afraid that Sutton is Keri's 'Eagle' and Keri's soul mirror, not Carla's. This is a big part of the book, but certainly not the entire plot. Darcy and Carla are fighting for control of the Witch's Circle, and Axel and the Wing Slayers are fighting a more devious enemy than before. I believe that many would compare this book to JK Ward's Lover Enshrined in that it is a 'between' book and a stepping stone for larger and bigger plots.
Still I really enjoy Jennifer Lyon's novels and the fact that they are paperback price is the icing on the cake. I have a feeling that like other authors this one will get better with age. Each book will be more twisted, deeper and more thought out than the last one. That doesn't mean that Sutton and Carla's story was bad, give it a shot...... I have a thing for eagles.

terrific romantic fantasy, Oct 29 2009

This review is from: Soul Magic: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
Wing Slayer Sutton West has vowed to follow his father's lead if the moment he can no longer control his blood lust begins. When the curse began to overwhelm his sire chose suicide rather than harm an innocent witch.
Rogue witch slayers killed Keri Fisk. Two years have passed and her twin sister psychiatrist Dr. Carla Fisk still mourns her loss. Sutton finds he is attracted to Carla, who runs a clinic, but he fears that desire might be the first step in the curse. However, he saves her life when rogues attack, but both realize a shocker; the rogue Styx and the demon Asmodeus have teamed up and trapped Keri's soul in a knife used by the witch slayer to provide his partner with the souls of witches she kills. As they try to save Keri's soul, Sutton and Carla wonder which twin is his soul mate.
The second Magic romantic fantasy (see Blood Magic) is a super saga as readers learn more about the plight of Keri and the soul mirrors through the lead couple. The fun in the tale is observing Sutton and Carla forging a loving relationship in spite of the curse placing them in opposite hostile camps in which their attraction means death. Filled with danger Soul Magic is a terrific tale that stands alone, but reading the previous entry enhances the knowledge of the Lyon world of Magic.
