I ordered this book after I came across the author's website while researching a tornado account; this volume is a must have for tornado enthusiasts and anyone interested in meteorology or tornadoes; it's engrossing and a book that I will keep referring to for years.

This is an outstanding book. Anyone interested in the history of tornadoes in the midwest this is a must read. It's easy to follow, the maps are detailed.

On the strength of the two other reviews of this book, I purchased it. I am sorry I did. The book is riddled with errors (according to this book, within the first twenty tornadoes described two families were killed on two different days by two different tornadoes, and a photograph of a tornado purported to have occurred on a certain date in Kansas then has no description in the book, which claims to be comprehensive), the "writing" is wooden and unimaginative, and for more recent tornadoes, the author appears to have just taken quotes from survivors from newspaper and TV accounts word for word with no explanation as to who these people are or why their story is important, or why they are representative of the universe of tornado survivors.
