Product Description

From Amazon.com

It doesn't take a fortune teller to figure out that the "Bewitched" soundtrack will be a lighthearted, whimsical collection organized around the theme of magic. As a result, this CD is a great way to get your hands on such classics as Frank Sinatra's "Witchcraft," Ella Fitzgerald performing "Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead" and, the highlight, Steve Lawrence's beefed-up big band take on the original instrumental show theme "Bewitched." As for brand new music, there are three tracks: The Actual's rock-meets-new-wave cut "Dancing On The Perimeter," a very Parisian-chic "City of Love" by Persephone's Bees, and an appearance by Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth. (Chenoweth, who plays Maria Kelly in the Bewitched movie and starred in Wicked on Broadway, offers up a sultry cover of the Eagles' "Witchy Woman.") All told, much like the original series, it is the old school feeling that provides the musical highlights on this disc: if you are craving a collection of classic big band and swing, then consider Bewitched a good introduction to some sassy, brassy classics. --Denise Sheppard

5.0 out of 5 stars Bewitching, July 16 2005
By Danielle Muller "Shulamith" - Published on Amazon.com

I watched this movie three times in theaters before buying the soundtrack. Don't make the same mistake, buy this at once.

Basically the best tracks are 1. Perspherone Bees City of Love

3. Kristen Chenewith Witchy Woman

4. Frank Sinatra Witchcraft (Don't particular like Sinatra, but this track was suprisingly well done)

6.Steve Lawrence Bewitched (Sounds rather like Sinatra)

7.R.E.M Everybody Hurts

Overall, the soundtrack is more swing jazz then anything else, but very sweet to listen to, and pleasent on the ears. I recommend this to anyone who loves good music.

Skip the film and but the DVD of the TV Series Season One. As far as the music goes, this is a fun little collection of assorted "witchy" music. Nothing out of this world original or amazing, but a fun compilation of familiar tunes that will come in handy when you're stuck in the freeway and in need of some toe tapping.

Noteworthy are Ella Fitzgerald's jazzy spin on DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD and Steve Lawrence's swingin' version of the TV theme song.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous soundtrack, Oct 29 2005

When I saw Bewitched, I knew I had to get the soundtrack. The soundtrack is filled with great songs and is a great cd to add to your collection!

1.City of love by Persephone's Bees-the song that plays in the opening credits. I love this song and this was partly why I wanted the cd.

2.And she was by Talking Heads- another great song. I vaguely remember hearing this before but I never realised how great this song is. It's one that I'll probably put on repeat.

3.Witchy woman by Kristin Chenoweth- I absolutely love this song. I have admired Kristin's voice before but after hearing this song, I ordered her 2 cds from amazon.com. By the way, Kristin plays Maria in the film.

4.Witchcraft by Frank Sinatra- a great standard by a legend.

5.Escape(The Pina Colada song) by Rupert Holmes- the song just makes you want to dance and sing to it loudly.

6. Bewitched by Steve Lawrence-whenever I listen to this, I always think of the scene where this plays. It's a great song.

7. Ding dong! The witch is dead by Ella Fitzgerald- a song from a classic movie sung by another legend

8.L-O-V-E by Natalie Cole- yet another fabulous song!

9.Dancing on the perimeter by The Actual- the only song I could have done without on the soundtrack. I'll probably end up skipping this one.

10.Everybody hurts by R.E.M.- a really good song.

11.'Bout time by Louis Armstrong- what can I say? Great song.

12. Every little thing she does is magic by The Police- a song that makes you want to dance

13. I love you, Samantha by Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong- a fabulous way to end the cd.

Even if you didn't really like the movie, this is an excellent cd to add to your collection.
