Product Description

The SHREK FOREVER AFTER soundtrack features Weezer's cover version of the Monkees' "I'm A Believer", following on Smash Mouth's version of the song from the first Shrek movie. The soundtrack also features tracks by the Scissor Sisters and Mike Simpson, as well as a new track written for the film by Landon Pigg and Lucy Schwartz. The album will also include from songs from the Beastie Boys, The Carpenters, Lionel Richie and more. As on previous Shrek soundtrack albums, there will also be songs by members of the cast, including Antonio Banderas (as Puss in Boots), Walt Dohrn (as Rumplestiltskin), Cody Cameron (as Pinocchio and the Three Little Pigs), and others. --This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.

This CD is quite possibly the worse Shrek soundtrack that has ever been released. The songs themselves are fine. However, the CD was created to make it sound like you're listening to The Rumpelstilskin Show...complete with interruptions by the extremely annoying Rumpelstilskin. In between most songs, Rumpel does his `bit'...either a comment on the previous song or an intro to the next song. Most of these 'bits' are separate tracks which, thankfully, can be deactivated in Windows Media Player. Sometimes, however, Rumpel does his bit before the track for the song ends, which means I'll have to partially rip the song to create a new track if I don't want to hear Rumpel's voice (and trust me, I don't). Why not just release a CD of songs from the movie like what was done for the previous 3 Shrek films? This CD is clearly aimed at children, because I cannot believe that an adult does not find Rumpel annoying. You have been warned...

It's the Rumelstiltskin Show!--Weakest of the Shrek Soundtracks 3 1/2 Stars Oct. 3 2010
By tvtv3 - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Like the previous Shrek movie soundtracks before it, the SHREK FOREVER AFTER SOUNDTRACK contains most of the songs from the movie. However, the songs on this album are delivered with a twist. Instead of just being a straight-forward album, the album is conceived as being a radio show entitled "The Rumpelstiltskin Show" hosted by the one and only Rumplestiltskin. The songs from the movie are broken up by dialog and segments from Rumple's show. Through the course of the show, various characters from the Shrek movies make appearances. For example, Pinocchio makes a telephone call into the radio request line.
Musically, I felt the soundtrack to SHREK FOREVER AFTER is weak, especially compared to previous movies' soundtracks. For instance, the SHREK helped propel Smash Mouth's version of "I'm a Believer" to the upper realms of the stratosphere and the SHREK 2 soundtrack had a cult-favorite in Jennifer Saunders' rendition of "Holding Out For a Hero." The SHREK FOREVER AFTER SOUNDTRACK doesn't have any memorable tunes. I think the producers realized this and that's why the album is presented in the radio show format. I also think they wanted to capitalize on Rumpelstiltskin, who despite his villainy turned out to be just as popular a character as Lord Faraquaad or Fairy Godmother. The radio show format takes a little time getting used to, but after listening to the album several times, it grew on me.

Good CD June 3 2011

This was a gift for my sister and she LOVED it. When I read the other reviews, I thought that the songs would be interrupted by Rumplestilskin, but they weren't. He does talk in between songs like it's a radioshow, but you can either fast forward through it or skip to the next song.

Bad radio show format makes this Classics for the Kiddies Sept. 17 2010
By Rachel Steinberger - Published on Amazon.com

I'm an adult who likes cartoons and loved the previous Shrek soundtracks. In comparison, this one was just... weak. They added a faux-radio show format with Rumplestiltskin as the host, during which they play several classic songs. None of the songs are unusual though and the radio format annoyed me. Young kids may enjoy the format, but it's unlikely to satisfy anyone over the age of 12 who just wants to listen to some good music.

The music on this CD is good and I'm looking foward to getting the soundtrack from the other Shrek movies. I played it as soon as It arrived and was glad!! If you get it, you'll be adding good, fun music to your collection.
