I found this book to be mildly interesting but not as interesting as other real life adventure books I've read. I don't really want to reveal too much about what happens but I often found the tone a bit too full of angst. I wanted more action, less introspection. If I was going to suggest a more pleasing alternate it would be Victoria Jason's Kabloona in the Yellow Kayak.

South Solo is a book that has everything: Adventure, Environment, Nature, Love and Following Dreams. I could not put it down once I started it. The writer puts you right there in her life and in the beautiful island of South Georgia. It is as though you too are kayaking and involved in the adventure. It is truely inspiring story! I feel like a changed person! I know that's a lot to say for a book, but it is really true. Hayleys way with words is second to none. Her outlook on life is positive and enthusiastic, the way she views a set back as merely a challenge to overcome and welcome it as an opportunity for an even greater adventure. I now have a completely new view on Plan B's or C's or D's! And, to top it off my kids were fascinated by Hayleys story and took great enjoyment in the photos.I reccommend this book to everyone. It has something for you no matter what your interests and it leaves you feeling impowered and inspired. A great gift for friends and family.

Really difficult to read April 13 2013

Even though the paddle around South Georgia was unsuccessful, this should have been a great read. Instead it was disjointed, learned nothing about the remote island, nor much about the Albatross. I'm not sure an editor even looked at the manuscript as the pose kept shifting from present to past tense which made it that much harder to bare. Disappointed.
Fantastic book Nov. 17 2012

I met Hayley in November of 2012, she was our tour guide in the Sub Arctic region of Churchill, Manitoba Canada on our Polar Bear adventure. She is an incredible tour guide and she shares her passion for nature, adventure and wildlife with her guests.

I learned of her book from another tour guide, she never mentioned it to the tour. I purchased a copy and could not put it down. As I read I imagen her voice telling me her story. She really engages the reader with a great story of her voyage.

She has inspired my family "to live your dreams", her book is an exciting read and she really takes you through the experiences she has had.

Thank you Hayley!
