3.0 out of 5 stars Loved the stories... the binding not so much Feb. 27 2012
By Wallace Harrington - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Like many, seeing these Dark Horse reprints is like rediscovering your youth; a time when you moved from comics to cars to girls and mothers threw away your prized comic collections the second you left for college. I have really liked having all of these stories in one volume. They are printed clearer with better color and on far better paper than the original comics and are a joy to read. It is certainly easier (and probably cheaper) to buy this one book with eight complete issues than trying to track the comics down on eBay or at comic stores (which are slowly going the way of the dinosaur). The fact is, I probably would not have bothered to do that had I not seen this series and that would have been a mistake. I remember reading these comics up to the middle of the second collected volume so this group of stories is all new to me without this series I would never have read them.

My major criticism of Volume 3 is the binding. After one reading, my copy is already loose (especially the front quarter of the book) and I fear some pages may come free. I praise the overall production values of color and paper, but considering that this book lists for almost $50 (not the Amazon price) I would have expected a better binding that would survive more than one reading.

A minor criticism has been the choices of people to write the introductions. By and large, they have not been very well done nor informative... but you can easily skip them and go straight to the stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Mystic Eye Of The Hipster Reveals--a comic book final frontier. Nov. 7 2012
By The Mystic Eye Of The Hipster - Published on Amazon.com

Ah, the Space Age! When many predicted we'd be living on the Moon in the impossibly distant year of 1999!

These collected comics are pure fun, with alien worlds, really **original** designs for the alien beings, convoluted & improbable plots, and Tam Robinson, who was always managing to get hypnotized by alien warlords, for some reason or other.

I found no binding issues at all, so I guess the earlier reviewer just drew a short straw, & got a damaged volume. Mine is fine.

A good value, and a nicely bound, attractive volume, to boot!
5.0 out of 5 stars Cool Stuff Jan. 18 2014

Another great collection of space adventures. In its prime, Gold Key was a viable alternative to the Big Two's superhero lineup. Fun stories from Dubois with great Dan Spiegle artwork.

One of the more scientifically correct series first published in the 60s and 70s. Reasonably good story lines with great illustration.
