About the Author

Boyd Robertson is a reader in Gaelic and head of language education at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. He is a native of the island of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides, where Gaelic was his mother tongue. He has extensive experience of designing and producing courses and resources for learners of Gaelic. He is coauthor of the Teach Yourself Gaelic course and cocompiler of the Teach Yourself Gaelic Dictionary.

Gordon Wells teaches for Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, Scotland's Gaelic College, on the award-winning online access course "An Cùrsa Inntrigidh." He has accumulated significant experience working with beginners in the language. He has taught students online in Canada, the United States, and Australia, as well as throughout the United Kingdom. He is currently engaged in developing community-based video materials for intermediate learners of both English and Gaelic.

I'm sure this is a good product but the type of Gaelic is entirely unclear. I have to send it back because I can't be sure if it's Scottish or Irish Gaelic. Also, there is no clear e-mail for the company that I can contact to clarify.

I was sent an e-mail from Amazon about this "new" item to help me learn (Scottish) Gaelic. I ordered two copies of it, one for myself and one for my study partner. When it arrived, I noticed that it said "Beginner - Level 2", not level 1, so I assumed it was a continuation of the Teach Yourself Gaelic Conversation 3-CD package that I already had. As I started playing the CD, I realized that it was exactly the same as the old CD set, repackaged, with the addition of "Level 2", but it's just the same old thing.
I had always sort of liked the Teach Yourself series, but it looks like they're now resorting to deception to get people to buy things that they already have. I'm pissed.
