Product Description

Inspired by Speck's Candy Shell Wrap for the original iPad, the PixelSkin HD Wrap case for iPad 2 gives you a superbly slim fit to go along with a perfectly pixelated, high-contrast glossy-matte finish. When you close the cover, micro suction makes sure it stays in firmly place. Open it up and this super-rad iPad 2 cover folds back into a viewing and typing stand with multiple angles. Founded in 2001, (with cases for the original iPod and the iSport, an iPod fanny pack with blinking lights) Speck has grown to become a worldwide leader in cases and bags for iPhone, MacBook, BlackBerry, iPad and tons of other personal electronic devices. But they're not a monolithic corporate entity: they're gadget geeks. Speck makes the sort of fun, functional, stylish cases that they'd want protecting their own gear-or, for that matter, their kids' and grandparents' gear. From concept to design to finished product, Speck puts their hearts, smarts, and guts into everything they do. Their downtown Palo Alto, California headquarters is often messy, always bustling, and filled with a crew of dedicated (dare we say obsessed) folks who really know their stuff. About a quarter of the company is in the product development group, and 100 Percent of their products are designed and quality-tested in-house.

Just opened and installed two of the speck hd cases on Christmas presents. They are nice and tight fitting on the ipad2. All holes and ports are open and lined up correctly. Would be a five but it is a bit thin and the long term functionality of the suction close will have to be watched. Great for the price when on sale.

Good but adds good amount of weight April 15 2011
By Jason Reuschlein - Published on
I just bought this case from a national retailer. It is a really nice case and works well. Few things:
A. It does not have magnets, it uses suction to keep the top closed. Therefore the iPad wake up feature does not work with the case like in a smart cover.
B. When standing up, it works but it is a little top heavy, so you might have to use a 2nd hand to stabilize it if you are using the iPad.
C. The case is pretty heavy. It makes it noticeably heavier (adds 9 oz!). The cover makes up most of this. I'm sure part of it is for protection of the screen when closed, but I don't think the cover needs to be that heavy. Overall the case seems very protective.

I feel like I could take off another star because of the weight but otherwise it is really good so I'll leave it at 4.

The best!, May 15 2011

I love this rubberized wrap case for my kids IPAD 2. I have 2 toddlers and the IPAD is more for them to play their educational apps. This case makes it easier for them to use as it doesn't slide off their little hands. The rubber is thick enough to keep IPAD protected in case my girls accidentaly drops it. Very much recommended when you have little kids handling the IPAD...

It fits the new iPad (3rd generation)!! March 16 2012
By thatcoffeeguy - Published on
I have had this case for about 7 months and used it with my iPad 2. It fits nicely and really protects. While the front cover does not have magnets, I have found that it stays closed just fine. The tri-fold is nice and allows for varying positions while reading or typing. I agree with other reviews that point out that it's not very stable when used as a stand in portrait mode. But I love this case. I like the grip of the rubberized texture. It always feel substantial when you're holding it, and stable and secure when you lay it on a smooth surface.

I bought the iPad 3 today and I wanted to let everyone know that this case fits it perfectly! All the buttons, speaker, jacks and camera lens are in the same exact position. I highly recommend it!

Disappointing Quality June 1 2011

I bought this iPad case because I really like the Pixel Skin HD for the iPhone. Unfortunately, Speck really dropped the ball on this one. The fit of this cover over the back of the iPad is good. Where it fails, however, is on the front flap. The "micro-suction" is actually a sticky strip. I was willing to overlook the fact that it didn't have a magnet closing function, but after using the cover for only a week, the "micro-suction" no longer keeps the cover closed. I am extremely disappointed with a $50 case that can't stay closed.

Very good but some minor problems June 23 2011

I was looking for a slim, light weight, and cool-looking case that would cover all of the ipad (not just the screen). This case fits the bill. The case is quite slim but surprisingly rather heavy, so if ounces are an issue for you you may want to think twice. The stand-up/folding functionality is ok, not great. I have to fiddle (a little) to get the cover folded just right for it to stand vertically especially. After it is folded for a while the cover is not totally flat on the screen, but it's easily corrected by flipping ipad over or putting something heavier on top to flatten the cover for a couple of minutes.

My main annoyance with this cover has been that its edge catches on the edge of the screen protector and lifts it off often. The case by design goes all around the screen and while it's tight it's not super-tight, meaning what then you pick up the ipad its edge moves back a little, and when it retracts back it catches on the screen protector and basically begins to peel it off. Rather annoying, as you then have to fiddle to wedge the edge of the cover off high enough the get the screen protector back under it. This problem seems to have gotten better with time, so you may only experience this problem for the first few days/weeks as you are getting used to the case and how to pick it up. Overall a great case, I would buy it again.
