Book Description

Aug 2 2011
Kelley Armstrong returns with an exciting new follow-up to her national bestselling book Waking the Witch.

Savannah Levine is in terrible danger, and for once she's powerless to help herself. At the conclusion of Waking the Witch, Savannah swore that she would give up her powers if it would help a young girl. Little did she know that someone would take her up on that promise.

And now, witch-hunting assassins, necromancers, half-demons and rogue witches all seem to be after her. The threat is not just for Savannah; every member of the Otherworld might be at risk. While most of her fellow supernaturals are circling the wagons at a gathering of the council in Miami, Savannah is caught on the road, isolated from those who can protect her and unable to use her vast spell-casting talent, the thing she counts on most. In a story that will change the shape of the Otherworld forever, Spell Bound gathers Elena, Clay, Paige, Lucas, Jaime, Hope and others, who soon learn that the greatest threat to supernaturals just may come from within.

Review

“Armstrong keeps the focus on hip, impulsive and likable Savannah, building suspense with plenty of plot reversals and betrayals. Fans of the series won’t want to miss what is clearly the first battle in an Otherworld war.”
Publishers Weekly

"Powerfully written... Moves along at a sprightly clip, and Armstrong's senses of humour and suspense are spot on. She knows when to break the tension and when to ramp it up, as evidenced by the climax and dénouement. The reader who gets through that without feeling a bit ragged might want to be checked for a pulse."
The Globe and Mail

Praise for Waking the Witch:

"Armstrong is quite deft at making Savannah simultaneously formidable, sympathetic and real.... A quick and fun read."
—The Miami Herald

"Waking the Witch is a satisfying read that stands well on its own....Waking the Witch is a solid blend of fantasy and detective novel that both male and female readers will enjoy."
—The Great Geek Manual

About the Author

KELLEY ARMSTRONG has been telling stories since before she could write. Her earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, hers would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to her teachers' dismay. Today, she continues to spin tales of ghosts and demons and werewolves, while safely locked away in her basement writing dungeon. She lives in southwestern Ontario with her husband, kids and far too many pets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbound May 10 2013

I Love Kelly Armstrong and have almost everyone of her novels. My son gave me one of her novels two years ago for Mother's Day and when I read the back of the book I thought oh my, I will not enjoy this book at all, what was my son thinking. One weekend while camping I started to read it and did not put it down until I was done and started to purchase her novels since then.

thanks for asking.

SPELLBOUND (Women of the Otherworld #12) by Kelley Armstrong

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Savannah Levine is in terrible danger, and for once she's powerless to help herself. At the heartbreaking conclusion of Waking the Witch, Savannah swore that she would give up her powers if it would prevent further pain for a young orphan. Little did she know that someone would take her up on that promise.

And now, witch-hunting assassins, necromancers, half-demons, and rogue witches all seem to be after her. In a story that will change the shape of the Otherworld forever, Armstrong gathers Elena, Clay, Paige, Lucas, Jamie, Hope, and other beloved characters, who soon learn that the greatest threat to supernaturals just may come from within.

REVIEW: SPELLBOUND is the second to last storyline in Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series.

At the end of Waking The Witch, our heroine Savannah Levine-part witch/part sorceress-all powerful young woman has sacrificed her powers to save a young child, and now Savannah must make her way through a haunted world of demons, werewolves, clairvoyants and an end of the world prophecy foretold from her birth to the birth of werewolf twins and more.

We learn more about a group of people seeking immortality and using the supernatural’s to get what they want. But immortality comes at a price and Savannah and the others will be the ultimate prize in the quest for –forever.

And finally, there is a hint of a romance between Savannah and Adam-a love story that has been building since STOLEN (the second storyline in the series where Adam helped rescue a twelve year old Savannah from Ty Winsloe’s compound of collected supernatural species). Fans of Kelley Armstrong have known this love story has been ten years in the making-ten long years (in story time) for some-but finally will be coming to its natural conclusion in Thirteen-the final book in Kelley’s WOTO series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kept Me Up All Night Aug 6 2012
Format:Paperback
Spell Bound is the middle of the last three books in the Women of the Otherworld series. Savannah is a pretty stubborn character, but this time she pushes too far. Without her powers, you'd think she would act more rationally and less rashly, but not until she pushes her luck too far. Then she regrets it and starts acting cautiously. I liked this. I loved that there was consequences to her behaviour. That's something that felt to be missing from Waking the Witch. But Savannah takes her caution too far. She stops being reliable back-up for the rest of her team. Again, more consequences. Savannah's growth felt much more natural in Spell Bound.

We get to see lots more of the other characters from the Otherworld series in Spell Bound, as they're all required in this fight against a new problem. An organization wants to expose the supernaturals, and it's up to the Council members to stop them.

Lots of great action, killer suspense and dead-on humour. Spell Bound kept me up all night. Can't wait for Thirteen!
