Product Description

From Amazon.com

Horse lovers young and old will celebrate this utterly enjoyable and marvelous-looking animated film. The titular stallion runs free in the Cimarron (New Mexico) wilderness until a series of men try to master the proud horse, leading to adventures through a U.S. Cavalry fort, Native American settlements, and a railroad camp. Despite a heavy dose of political correctness and realism (the animals don't talk; we only hear Spirit's internal monologue, voiced by Matt Damon), directors Kelly Asbury and Lorna Cook give their hero many only-in-a-movie moments, including an action sequence rivaling any of Rambo's escapes. The stirring mix of 2-D and 3-D animation is absolutely stunning and aptly fueled by composer Hans Zimmer's synthesized score. The film earns one demerit for '80s rocker Bryan Adams's abundant songs--a different singer could have brought more to the film. Rated G but there is some rough treatment of horses shown, so nix the sensitive preschoolers. --Doug Thomas

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully Done, Jan 6 2005
By
I never watch a movie more than twice, but this movie I watch almost every evening with my little girl before her bed time. There is so much artist diversity I cant get over it. From the old fashioned hand drawn characters to the artist painted mountains and other backdrop to the computer generated grass, trees and its hard to tell at times what else. I think the lack of english dialogue is wonderful. My daughter is just over one and she reacts to the body language as though she understands what is going on. When baby Spirit is born my daughter smiles and laughs each and every time she sees this part, she loves it when he makes his little noises and his mom welcomes him into the world. The music is fantastic, Brian Adams and Hanz are amazing together, not that my growing up with Bryan Adams blaring in the background most of my young life has anything to do with it :) This movie has not been given the publicity and credit it justly deserves. I encourage anyone who gets this DVD to watch all the special features as well because you wont believe the work put into this movie. I recommend this movie for any age.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beware Horse Experts, July 9 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (Widescreen) (DVD)
I think that Spirit was a great movie. I have only a few warnings. If you are a complete horse expert and can't stand to see one little thing wrong about the movie such as eyebrows on the horse or horses in love, DON'T WATCH IT! I REPEAT, DON'T WATCH IT!!!!! It's a really good movie for families, even though some perfectionists hate it. I thought it was great and you really should get it.
