Product Description

Sports Illustrated celebrates 100 years of Montreal Canadiens hockey with a commemorative edition. Drawing on the talents of Sports Illustrated’s writers and photographers, this special book will trace the glorious history of Les Habitants, with an emphasis on their 24 Stanley Cup championships; their legendary stars; such as Howie Morenz, Rocket Richard, Jean Beliveau, Guy Lafleur and Patrick Roy; and the franchise’s most memorable moments. There will be an introduction by Sports Illustrated’s award-winning hockey writer, Michael Farber, as well as a personal essay from a Canadiens legend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Tribute to Hockey's most honored club, Oct 14 2009
By Richard A. Johnson "writer/historian" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Sports Illustrated Montreal Canadians: One Hundred Years (Hardcover)
This is the illustrated history the Canadiens deserved on the occasion of their centennial. From Michael Farber's spot-on introductory essay to the re-prints of such classic articles as Herbert Warren Wind's profile of Rocket Richard this book is a delight for any Habs fan and a book that any serious hockey fan should consider purchasing. The photographs are beautifully presented with a vast array of team memorabilia selected from the collection of The Hockey Hall of Fame as well as photos from many sources including the fabulous color photos shot by SI staffer Hy Peskin in the 1950s. I love this book and agree with most of their era by era team All-Star squads. Nice to see such a top notch hockey book produced south of the border.
