2008 and 2009 has to be the best years in DVD history for re-releasing Classic 80's movies that i loved as a child..
Check this out..just this year...Screwballs, Hard Bodies, Student Bodies, Slaughter High, Hot moves and of course this movie "Spring Break" all are back, clearer than ever on dvd!
Big thanks of course To Anchor Bay entertainment for doing that, they see what these movie meant to people like me....these movies represent the good old days in the 80's where we were young, stupid, innocent and just wanted to have a good time!
So what can i say about Spring Break, its your typical "guys drinking,partying and on a mission to to get girls" type of movie...story is lame and really not important but it is a fun movie! (if that makes any sense!)
Look, you have to remember...these low budget films in the 80's were made in record amount of times (sometimes 1 week!) with not much money, no name actors and fast editing, so they targeted the male market by putting in topless woman and easy to follow storylines.
Simple movies like these ones made big dollars for distributors...sure you got your terrible ones (ex: Beach Balls, School Spirit, Bikini Summer) but you'd always get a few that were actually pretty good and funny and Spring Break is definitly one of them.

I always liked this movie and was happy to see it finally released on DVD. The movie trailer for "Spring Break" included within this disc is classic '80s too! I was disappointed when I watched the DVD version this movie. The VHS version looks better to me, brighter and clearer even though it was transferred directly from the film and has the reel change indicators-the dot showing up at the top right of the screen every 15 min. The DVD release does not include this since it's a digital transfer. The only complaint I have is that the movie seemed so dim compared to the original VHS version. I found that I was straining to see in parts like when the 2 guys bring the girls back to their hotel room, and the other 2 guys are trying to sleep. Usually Anchor Bay do a great job with their video transfers, and they look a 100% better than the original VHS releases. This doesn't seem to be the case for this movie, the VHS version is better looking than the DVD release. I know that this movie is 27 years old, but why does it look so clear and bright on VHS and dim and dark in some scenes on DVD? The only thing I can deduct is maybe Anchor Bay was not able to get a pristine copy of this movie. For the movie itself, it's a great party movie and has a great '80s energy to it.

This is one of the best, and most under-rated, fun movies from the 80's (right up there with Night Of The Comet.) WHY ISN'T IT ON DVD YET?? My video is wearing out. You don't even have to be a guy to enjoy this one. I'm a 35 year old wife and mom and it's one of my favorite movies of all time. Maybe it's because I never got to do the whole wild Spring Break, much less ever party in the legendary Fort Lauderdale back in it's prime... but everytime I watch this movie, it takes me back to that wonderful decade and remember how much fun it was. The movie has tons of cheesy music, yes I walk around humming "I wanna do it, do it, I wanna do it to you..." 22 years later. Corrine was hot! Whoa... even the typical 'youth overcoming the evil adult' plot works here. And only in a movie like this would Nelson get a hottie like Susie.
