Chrono Trigger has always been my favourite game, and I have played it on the SNES and Playstation. When it came out for DS I bought it and have played it multiple times. A friend of mine recently remarked that I have certainly gotten my money's worth out of the game.

The port to DS is flawless - the art, music, and gameplay are uncomplicated and almost identical to playing on a bigger console. The storyline is unchanged. The addition of two new (optional) areas on first playthrough, plus another available on New Game+, do not interfere with gameplay or story, but offer fun new challenges. An "extras" option on the startup menu lets you see the movies, hear the music, and see the art; a list of enemies fought and items collected is fun for completists who want to know they've gotten everything - and the techniques list is informative, if you want to be sure you've gotten them all before continuing to level up. The best part of the "extras" is the endings list, each one of which only appears once you've seen it! And of course all of these extras go with you into a New Game+.

This is definitely worth the price and the time you'll put into it.

First time I played Chrono Trigger almost 19 years after it first came out. I had heard online that this game was really good with some sites regarding it as one of the best games of all time, and while I'm not really much of a JRPG fan I decided to finally give this a go. So going in with no nostalgia attached to it, I came out not only really liking the game, but loving it far more than any other game that's come out in the last few years.

The best thing Chrono Trigger gets right is its pacing: At no point during the game did I feel the need to go back to previous areas to grind up levels, the level building and enemy stats for each area are well balanced to the point where I won't get too overwhelmed, but at the same time I never felt that the game was easy as I did indeed die a few times in the game.

The Story is well paced too, its very engaging and seems intricate without feeling too complex or bogged down with too much dialog, which is especially well put together for a game about Time Travel, the prologue and first mission starts off as your typical JRPG storyline at first, but once you're done with that prepare for your mind to be blown away by the next sections that followed, the trial in particular and the trip to the future really got me immersed into the story and from then on out I was hooked.

The Combat System is fantastic, there's no random battles in the game that interrupt your journey like say Final Fantasy, instead enemies appear on the World Map and if you get to close to them you'll engage in the battle right there on the world map, no switching to an alternate dimension here.

a great redux of a classic RPG, the transition to cut-scenes and back from them is seemless unlike the PS1 rendition, which i recall having 2-5 min load times for a 30 second cut-scene if you were lucky. some new features were added to game, none of which harm the core gameplay and i would recommend this title to anyone who was a fan of the game or squaresoft/square-enix as this was one of the early gems that is still a great game to play to this era of HD, MMO, DLC.

I played this game a thousand times on the super nintendo when I was younger, and it has been one of my favorites ever since. When I learned there was a version for the DS, I was very eager to get it, especially since they added cutscenes still done with Akira Toriyama's style. I really don't regret buying it, moreover, at such a good price !

Never got to play it when I was younger, but it really stands the test of time. The combat is fast and fun while the storyline is interesting and full of cool characters.

Definitely worth picking up for any RPG fan.

Best JRPG ever for SNES, PS1 and for DS. If you have a DS or 3DS and you love JRPG you have to buy the game. It has some extra ds content which does not live up to the quality of the rest of the game but its ok. Buy this game
