I had been impatiently waiting for the release of the new Ms Croft's outing for months. However, for some peculiar reasons, i had decided to go with another title in priority: Sim City. After 10 years waiting it could not be bad right. Luckily I got warn soon enough by friends of mine not to throw myself too early into EA's massive bear trap, and I am thankful to them for that.
Finishing a game can take me a long time. for instance, it took me almost a year to finish uncharted 3, while it took me only a couple of weeks to see the end credit rolling on its predecessor Uncharted 2. I may be digressing but all that to say that having almost finished the Tomb Raider campaign, I have not been that satisfied with a game in a little while.
The graphics look amazing on my mid range system, and now is a good time for me to mention how glad I am it was released on PC from day one. The physics of the game may be off on some of the dowstream rafting QTE sequences, but overall Lara interacts with her environment like never seen before in that type of action game. The action sequences are very uncharted like but still keep something special in the way lara moves around. The title is easier than average though. Ms Croft throws heavier strokes than her body may suggest possible, and she is helped by particularly stupid opponents, at least when it comes to melee.
Buy it, play it, enjoy it. The story may be short, but if you are obsessed with finishing a game at 100%, you may find yourself doubling the time spent on it. Tomb Raider is one the best action-adventure games of the past 5 years, and the only serious challenger to Uncharted 2 for top spot.
