Storytelling 101 for leaders,
By
This review is from: Squirrel Inc.: A Fable of Leadership through Storytelling (Hardcover)
This book is a little gem. It is a quick and entertaining read. Using the parable of Squirrel Inc whose main business of burying nuts is in serious decline and that must transform itself to survive, Stephen Denning illustrates the power of storytelling for leaders. When corporate culture determines more and more the performance of an organization, storytelling is a critical skill to fashion corporate values and beliefs. Many will recognize themselves or colleagues in the behaviours exhibited by the book characters and the story will have a poignant relevance for many. What adds value to the book and separates it from other cute corporate parables in fashion today is the practical synthesis at the end of each chapter and the well built framework for organizational storytelling that concludes the book. You will likely keep this book on your shelf and refer to it each time you need to craft a new communication to your team.

This review is from: Squirrel Inc.: A Fable of Leadership through Storytelling (Hardcover)
Squirrel Inc. absolutely sings along. It's not only jockerblock full of strategies for how to use storytelling as part of innovative strategies for change within organizations, it's a fun book to read. Steve Denning is a master teacher and storyteller. He is also a leading business consultant with a tremendously strategic mind and an extraordinary sense of humor. If there is one book on change management you buy this year - this should be it.

Leadership IS Storytelling,
By A Customer
This review is from: Squirrel Inc.: A Fable of Leadership through Storytelling (Hardcover)
I LOVED THIS BOOK! The author uses a funny story about a company--run by SQUIRRELS- to show how stories can be used to help organizations deal with change and spark innovation. I've read a lot of business fiction--some of it good, some of it bad--and I found this book to combine enough prescriptive advice within its offbeat colorful story to really be of use to leaders at all levels of the organization.
