One of the best TV Shows Ever,

I was so glad that this season was put out on DVD. I loved this show, but did miss the first couple of seasons. In this season you will see Tom Hulce as a young man that has lost his memory and much more. I only wish season 2 would be forthcoming!

One of the best series ever produced...another stellar effort from Brand and Falsey. What could possibly justify NOT releasing Seasons 2 - 6??????

best US TV series ever produced, bar none,
By Happy in Ottawa (Ottawa, Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: St. Elsewhere: Season 1 (DVD)
I was rivetted to the TV set when this series aired back in the early 1980s, and I'm not one who likes TV generally nor TV series in particular. This is hands-down the very best television series ever produced in the US, with superb and believable acting. Better than any of the earlier or later hospital/medical series, because it developed believable human characters over several years as well as depicting interesting medical and organizational dilemmas. Why is it taking so long for the other years to be released? I'd snap them up in a heartbeat if they released them. I bought this first year, and my wife and I love re-watching it. Hugely better than crappy reruns of almost all other TV series produced in the US. Mark Daniels (Dustin Hoffman's father in The Graduate) was great in this as the fussy head surgeon, and one of the later series had a wonderful flashback to an interesting earlier head of the hospital, a Roman Catholic priest played by a really good actor whose name I can't remember. Gosh I'd love to see that particular series of shows again ... And some later surreal shows where one of the characters, I think the Howie Mandel character, experiences near-death ... Really interesting stuff. And what's in Season One isn't half bad either, but the later years were even better. Denzel Washington got his career-start in this series. PLEASE BRING THEM ALL BACK!!!!
