Product Description

From Amazon.com

The stability ball is a marvelous exercise tool. Exercise any muscle group and you also engage the core--postural abdominal and back--muscles, which keep you balanced. Stability Ball Workout for Dummies is an excellent introduction to working out on the ball. Even if you're a first-timer, friendly instructor Liz Gillies, starts with the basics. Then she leads a 45-minute workout of 15 different exercises that work all muscle groups and target the core muscles to keep you steady. Modifications make the exercises easier or more challenging, making this workout adaptable to different levels. In the friendly format of the For Dummies books, 15-Minute Workouts for Dummies uses icons to indicate tips, safety cautions, "myth busters" (commonly misunderstood facts about exercise) and vocabulary. You'll need dumbbells and, of course, a stability ball. --Joan Price

This review is from: Stability Ball W/O for Dummies (DVD)
This is a must have for part of any workout routine. The DVD starts off with bascis such as choosing the right ball size, proper form etc. The workout consists of 15 workouts that challenge every muscle in your body especially your core. It's best to watch it first before doing it so that you can become familiar with the routine but the workouts are very easy to follow and the instructor (Liz) gives clear, detailed instructions. Liz takes you through 2 sets of each exercise so you will definitely feel the burn but most important is to make sure that you select the right ball size and that it is inflated properly because at first mine would sink in a bit when I sat on it but I looked at the instructor's ball and noticed how hers looked when she sat on it. One should never worry about bursting the ball when they sit on it because it can withstand over 300 lbs. (but once again inflate it properly) A set of hand weights are needed for a portion of the workout (for arm & chest exercises) along with a yoga mat to place your ball on. Do give this DVD a try though because it is worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love love love this workout, Mar 3 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Stability Ball W/O for Dummies (DVD)
I workout 5 to 6 days a week and am in pretty good shape. I have acclamated this workout into my schedule because it is both fun and effective. It seems easy but when you really manage to master the moves correctly you can certainly feel that it's working. I actually noticed a difference in my waist within the first week or two! The workout itself is actually really fun and I love how I feel after doing the workout. My limbs feel like spaghetti and the next day I can certainly tell my muscles have been worked both hard and properly. I highly recommend this DVD to anyone who is interested in geting started with the stability ball. I'm buying a copy right now for my sister!

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely ridiculous, May 30 2004
This review is from: Stability Ball W/O for Dummies (DVD)
Every single one of the exercises can be done without the ball. This title is just an excuse to add to the Dummies range and man they must be desperate. The exercises are just everyday exercises but they somehow found a way to include the ball. Sometimes the ball is just rolled by your hand while doing an exercise. Absolutely ridiculous. I suggest buying a TamiLee Tighter Assets title.
