OK but lacks pace.,

This review is from: Star Wars: Coruscant Nights I: Jedi Twilight (Mass Market Paperback)
I enjoyed the second half of this novel as the characters began to develop. I was thrown by the presence of Jedi Even Pielle as he was killed during the clone wars according to the cartoon TV programme. The best part of this book was the continuation of the story lines of characters from previous clone wars era novels. You don't need to know who these characters are to read Jedi Twilight but it adds interest for those who are familiar with the Medstar series and others.I'm always disappointed when a Jedi's ability to use the force falters to progress an otherwise implausable story line. That is a central theme in this novel. A Jedi's tentative connection to the force provides the majority of the stories forward momentum. I found this an easy way to develop many unlikely situations a fully powered Jedi would not have been caught in. Darth Vader makes an appearance but little is added to his character. He remains a two dimentional figure in the books following Episode III. It's an entertaining read but don't run out to get it. There are much better Star Wars novels out there. Have a look at my other reviews for more Star Wars novel hits and misses.

Another entertaining "Star Wars" novel. There's a comical odd couple! There's Prince Xizor! There are two sequels I'm going to read!

Makes The Dark Times Feel Not So Dark,

This review is from: Star Wars: Coruscant Nights I: Jedi Twilight (Mass Market Paperback)
In Jedi Twilight, Reaves spun together a light but compulsively readable chase novel. Reaves not only gave me the first novel since Rogue or Wraith Squadron not filled with PT or OT characters that I loved, he managed to make Darth Vader the BA we've missed for so long.I love the cast he has assembled. Each character was a joy to read. I can't help but contrast the optimism of Coruscant Nights with the pessimism and ongoing sadness that is Dark Times Comics. While I enjoy both, Jedi Twilight made The Dark Times fun. Much more fun than say, Invincible was. Why am I as optimistic about the future of Jax Pavin and company as Luke's Jedi Order? I know I shouldn't be.
