4.0 out of 5 stars Fun moments, but tires quickly, May 30 2011

Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Star Wars Empire at War Gold Pack (DVD-ROM)
This is a fun game and allows you to command both land and space forces. It's more of a strategy game where you direct units. I enjoyed the ability to play battles at the head of Star Wars fleets. The game includes most of the main ships from the movies (although the TIE Interceptor and B-Wing are conspicuous absences), as well as new vehicles. As fun as it is though, the concept gets old pretty quickly. There are only a limited number of combat spaces, and aside from the background scenery there are few differences between them. Moreover, the game limits the number of forces you can build, so at most you can only fight with 2-3 large capital ships at a time. Perhaps the biggest problem is that it's fairly easy to build a huge fleet and conquer at will. Despite that, it's a great opportunity to command Star Wars fleets. I got mine as part of a pack of games, and I don't know if I'd buy it alone, but I'm glad I did eventually get it.

I bought each installment of this when they first came out. I could not find my disks so I found this a ton cheaper. I bought it and i have played this thing like crazy...buy it if you like strategy games and Star Wars (I have friends who have never watched Star Wars and have enjoyed this game).
