From Booklist
The seventh in the Starbridge series, which Crispin began and has continued with various colleagues' help, retains the underlying theme of building bridges between the several intelligent races in the Cooperative League of Systems, despite wide gaps among them in terms of development and ethics. Questions of the latter sort come brutally to the fore when the felinoid Arrekhi request admission to the league, meanwhile concealing some of their more vicious habits and ambitions. The effort to discourage the more bloodthirsty Arrekhi while not alienating the rest yields a story that is as much one of diplomacy and detective work as it is of action. Crispin and Emerson keep the writing in this series as intelligent as ever and make the Arrekhi an honorable addition to the roster of felinoid alien races. Certain to hold established fans of the series and maybe gather a few more.
