The "cover" says the band adheres to Sousa's original "score" but I have heard other bands who I thought produced a more powerful, dynamic sound. Percussion was on the weak side and I was a little disappointed with the woodwinds. I wasn't moved to "deep" patriotism by this group although it is a very good album with a first class selection of Sousa marches. A value at your price.

The sound quality on this CD is not fabulous, but it is good enough to provide enjoyable listening for an excellent collection of Sousa compositions. I bought it, uploaded it to my PC, then downloaded to my iPod Shuffle, and it has provided hours of great walks accompanied by Sousa. "Forward March" by the US Army Band has the great quality sound you want, although not the wonderful selection of this CD. The two make a great addition to your march music collection!
