"Starsky and Hutch The Complete Third Season" is a very enjoyable ride! The chemistry between Paul Michael Glaser (Starsky) and David Soul (Hutch) both terrific actors are what makes this whole series work. On the show they just happened to be cops that were partners who were/are best friends (real life, too) and this brings a realness to their team work. In my opinion there is only a 'handful' of shows out there with actors, past and present, that have honest believability with their chemistry and these two have "it".
This season offers us some of our favorite episodes: which is the 2 part "The Plague". This was about Hutch infected with a deadly virus and Starsky's search for the one person who has built up an immunity which holds the key to saving Hutch. The acting was great and they did a good job with the storyline. "A Body Worth Guarding" was funny and Starsky did have to do all the hard work on this episode.*g* Love the scene when Starsky was knocking on the hotel room door where Hutch was guarding this Russian lady ballerina and Hutch was hurriedly getting dressed before letting his partner in the room. Trust me its funny! Also, "The Trap" was very good and these two literally relied on each other to survive.
This season both PMG and David Soul continued directing episodes (they started directing in season two) which were "ManChild On The Streets", "Class In Crime" and the season finale "Deck Watch".
In regards to the DVD packaging its great, the picture quality is clear for this 23 episode digitally mastered set. I like the main menu screen that is on seasons one to three DVDs. We did purchase all of the series from seasons one to four. I do want the complete series boxed set, but because it has yet to be offered here, I bought them individually.
**We still want the 'reunion' movie with "this duo" as it would be a fitting tribute to the best, only, and original version of "S&H". They're still young enough to do a movie and for all of us fans worldwide, whether it would be on the big screen or the small screen, it would be terrific! We would like to know how the characters are and what became of them as the duo.** C'mon Warner Bros! They were a huge hit and even other shows out there with less popularity do a reunion show or at the very least they have the originals come back for a retrospective. Please give the fans what we want! 'Nuff said.
This is a 5 star purchase with the incredible duo, The Ford Gran Torino "aka Striped Tomato", and the acting which made the show for us. We're glad we bought the whole series, it's worth it! Trust me!
