Great, hilarious read, April 28 2011

I guess Amazon released the book earlier than the purported mid-May release date; I had pre-ordered this book and it showed up last week. So, great shipping service on Amazon's part - they're even going back in time, apparently:)
I have to say, I loved this book. I went into it expecting a humorous travel story with perhaps some insight into finding one's direction. What I found was that, and a lot more. As the author tackles driving to all 48 states and figuring out what he wants to do with himself, he ends up crossing paths with some really unexpected challenges and adventures (the Missouri snake-swim story had me squirming and laughing at the same time), some really unexpected Americans, and some really great insights into what it means to try to be an adult in this country these days.
That, and the book was VERY funny. As in, I laughed out loud in most of the chapters, sometimes many times, which is unusual for me.
Kudos. Highly recommended.

Great Graduation Present, May 12 2011

I love reading an author's first book because it's always so fresh and novel. This book was certainly that. It's a hysterical blend of back-road America and a young man finding direction after graduating from college. I'm sure we all felt a bit lost as graduation approached, and this book gives a humorous perspective that everyone can relate to. Therefore, it makes a perfect present for anyone graduating this spring or summer.
I bought it for the student I mentor and he loved it, so I had to order a bunch more for his friends. A very uplifting story.

Highly recommend this book! Touching and hilarious, couldn't put it down. I got this as as gift for my brother who is graduating this year and he really liked it, and ended up getting a few copies for his classmates. The author does a great job of putting into words feelings so many of us have during that uncertain time in our life, and he does it with humor and vulnerability.
Great book!
