This album is a very solid collaboration, although it falters in some respects. Heavy metal is a genre that gets discredited for being repetitious, and this album has a few songs that fit that mould. However, there are always many bright spots. "Innervision" is a powerful and insightful song about what it means to step forth and be yourself, your imagination is power, and without it you are powerless. "Boom!" The song probably most well-known on the album due to the video, is a left-wing foray against neo-capitalism. Its an extremely dark song. The other standout is "Roulette", a simple riff on an acoustic guitar, about love and loss. It contrasts other SOAD songs, but not in a bad way. This song is powerful in its own right. However, its not quite a complete album. It just doesn't seem like there's a theme, but then again it wasn't recorded in one run.
