Perfect for memorization and phonetics! Key to spelling!!!! Nov. 15 2014

Great spelling book! Really helps reinforce basic spelling sounds. I like the review of spelling words every group of lessons. It drives the memorization home. I am sad as a teacher to see this be discontinued. Children have to learn basic phonetics which this series has reintegrated . Basically the new common core books teach to jump in before one knows how to swim. I am a firm believer kids need to grasp, memorization, phonetics, and meaning before harder words are introduced. The newer spelling books are pushing children and they are missing the basics and pushed through. This approach in Steck& Vaughn is wonderfully balanced! You won't waste your money.

Really, really good. Aug. 7 2011

As the title says, these book link words to meaning. Nicely done.

However, the pages are a bit slick, and students have a hard time writing in them - doesn't erase, it smears, etc.

The book is very good. But when I ordered it at amazon I assume the price is reasonable. Well, it's not!
I could find the same book at less than 10$! Don't buy it here.
