2.0 out of 5 stars Questionable research, Jan 15 2004
This review is from: Stories from a Soldier's Heart: For the Patriotic Soul (Paperback)
A nice book with heartwarming and meaningful stories. HOWEVER, at least one of the stories is of questionable origin. According snopes.com (a site that investigates urban legends), the story about some Marines giving up opportunities by a reporter to call home in order to let another member make the call or to call the family of a fallen comrade, did not happen. Snopes quotes a news agency's denial of the incident.

my friend bought me this book, and had it autographed for me to boot! i have read most of it, but is taking me a long time to read as it touches my heart, i start crying and can't see to read. tis a sad, happy, inspirational book. but not in a preachy way. i think everyone should read it, whether they be kids or adults.... it tells the feelings of all ages, and how war, military service has affected them. not, the least of which is, to mention how God helped them through those times. it gives one hope. great book! and it can be read over and over...
i know i've read the real tear-jerker stories more than once.
the poem: "mother's covers" is a memorizer for me! page 125.
and i will get it all read, after i run to the store for more tissues! i laugh til i cry too! but mostly it is just touching. buy it, you'll be reading it for years, generations after you. tis a touch of history, love, and hope.
