After many, many years we finally were graced with Toy Story 3. This possibly final movie ranks as my least favourite, but it is still an excellent addition to your viewing experience. Toy Story 3 is the only one we managed to see twice in the theatre, which made us very happy.
Time has passed in Toy Story 3. Andy, the little boy from the first two, is now all grown up and getting ready to go away to school. Quite by accident, the toys are deposited in a local daycare centre. Not entirely happy, Woody manages to escape and form a friendship with some other toys. At the daycare, Buzz faces his own difficulties. Shenanigans and chaos ensue yet again. And this time, you will hate toy monkeys!
The musical interlude in Toy Story 3 is actually the same tune from the first one. This time, done Spanish flamenco style! At least I think it was a flamenco. Due to a glitch in one of the toys, we are treated to a hilarious section at the end, all for our amusement. Pure genius on the part of Pixar! And a great character moment for two of our favourite toys.
Before the end of this movie, load up on the tissues. The emotional impact from the resolution, which causes a massive game change if a fourth is made, feels like the end of an era. This outcome feels natural, one we know is coming, but painful nonetheless. But the possibilities for a fourth are boundless and plentiful, which fills our hearts with joy.
Toy Story 3 can serve as an ending or a new beginning, or both. It is up to us, and our friendships with Woody and Buzz, to decide. Pixar has constantly given us these wonderful, imaginative characters for us to love and cherish. I hope with all my heart we see more of the toys. That would be lovely.
