Everyone loves retellings of Noah's Ark, and we (ahem) own many of them ourselves. That being said, when The Story of Noah's Ark: Storybook and Wall Clings hit our house, pandemonium broke out! There were big stickers inside of this book! Big bright stickers! That mom wouldn't mind if we put on the walls! My three-year-old was all over the book, then my five-year-old, and dare I say it...my eight-year old fastidiously rearranging and tidying the scene that was growing on the front of our refridgerator.

Now, we don't have a lot of empty wall space (bookshelves, you know?) but we were all very happy that the reposition-able wall clings (20 clings in all) work just dandy on our fridge (you can use them on the wall if you have room! There is a big ark, a rainbow, and cute, colorful animals both singly (if they are large), and in pairs (if they are small). The missing single animals are shown on board the ship - don't worry, there are two of each!

The illustrations are big, bold, and vibrant and work very well for my three-year-old both in the book itself and on the clings. The book is a very simple, straight forward retelling of the flood and of Noah's heroic rescue of the animals. I was a bit sad that only Noah and his wife are included as the human occupants of the ark (no Ham, Shem, or Japeth) and the animals are only in pairs, none in sevens (still looking for a simple retelling that includes this), but Noah's wife does get a really cute role in this book.

Fun Book for Kids Oct. 5 2011
By WriterR - Published on Amazon.com
What B (age 7, second grade) Thought- I like the story about Noah's ark, but they forgot to put in Noah's sons and their wives. There were wall clings, those were really fun. They were really fun, because we made a neat scene with them. Noah built a big ark to hold every kind of animal, two of every kind (one female and one male).

There were good illustrations. There were snakes, dogs, giraffes, pigs, turtles, monkeys and many more animals that I really enjoy.

I think this book is good for kids my age.

What C (age 5, kindergarten) Thought- I like the book. I think it was fun to have it read to me. My favorite part was the rainbow and the animals were safe inside Noah's ark. Slowly the water began to evaporate and Noah sent out the dove to find dry land. And the sun slowly began to come out. And the rainbow began to come out as a sign that God would never flood the earth again.

I like the wall clings. It was fun putting them on the wall, instead of on the window or door.

I think it would be good for kids my age.

My thoughts-

My kids love Noah and the ark and wall clings, so this book was perfect for them. I read the book different times to them and B enjoyed reading it to C. After they put the wall clings on the wall, they looked at the illustrations to see what animals they had put on the wall.

I thought this book was cute and well written. I really enjoyed studying the illustrations on each page. The wall clings looked spectacular on our wall. I did remember to put them on one of the smooth walls in our house, because we stuck wall clings on our bumpy walls once and they did not stick.

I wondered why Noah's sons and wives were not included. When I read the story of Noah's ark, I like having all the characters and the rest of the complete story.

I highly recommend this story, because all kids should know the story of Noah's ark and the wall clings make it even more fun.

Disclosure of Material Connection- I received The Story of Noah's Ark by Lori C. Froeb and illustrated by Luana Rinaldo for free from the Kregel Publications' Blog Tour. Something To Cherish for Years to Come... Oct. 4 2011

Illustrated By: Luana Rinaldo

Lori C. Froeb lives and works in Westchester County, New York. As a children's book editor, Lori has had the opportunity to write many books for kids-which she finds both challenging and rewarding. Lori tries to carry God's promises with her every day and it was a blessing to write this book. Her other titles include A Child's Book of Parables, The Acorn and the Oak Tree, and The Newborn King puzzle book.

About the Book:

The story of Noah and his ark is one of the most frequently read stories in the Bible. With this deluxe set, kids can use the wall clings to recreate the awesome scene of all the animals boarding the ark. As they read about Noah and his adventure, children are prompted to stick the vinyl clings on any painted wall. The clings safely stick and easily peel right off, so kids can rearrange them however they choose and reuse them for hours of enjoyment!

Review of Book:

I was very excited to be chosen to read and write a review for this special animated book! When we received it, my children loved all of the bright and beautiful colors that illustrate God's creation, on their level! What I liked most, was that the story was written on a child's level of thinking and understanding, and also that the clings can be used again and again, for hours and hours of fun, imagination play!

This book will definitely be staying in our family for many years to come, to be passed on to possibly even grand children. The wall clings can be re-used by peeling off slowly, and repositioning once again later, or they can stay put; whichever you and your child choose. Either way, whether you use them once, or a dozen times, the book is a definite keeper!

FTC Guidelines disclosure, I must state that I was given a copy of the book, "The Story of Noah's Ark" from the publisher in exchange for my review. My opinions are expressly my own, and are in no way influenced positively or negatively, due to receiving this book in exchange for the review.
Delightful! Oct. 3 2011
By E. Saylor - Published on Amazon.com
My 6 year old son and I just read and completed The Story of Noah's Ark: Storybook and Wall Clings written by Lori C. Froeb and illustrated by Luana Rinaldo. It was wonderful! The text is written at a 1st-2nd grade level, so early readers can read many of the words. It captures the full Bible story and it's lessons in a manner that children can easily understand.
The illustrations are delightful - the big chunky animals have animated expressions, and almost seem to invite you to play along with them! The playful tigers, swinging monkeys, cheerful bumblebees, spotted puppies, hungry piglets and flitting butterflies are sure to capture your child's imagination!

The book comes with two pages of wall clings which stick to clean walls, but peel right off, so they can retell the story. My son actually wanted to split his pictures between his bedroom and the playroom, and there were still plenty of stickers for both rooms!

Research says that we learn from reading/listening, but we learn much more when an element of play, discovery or re-teaching is added to the reading. This storybook with wall clings does just that - it invites children to continue discovering the Bible story long after the last pages are read.

This is a great gift for young children (ages 0-7). Infants could enjoy the bright pictures in their nursery, toddlers will enjoy naming the diverse animals, and older children will enjoy `playing school' while telling the story to their friends. I would recommend the book for families, for homeschoolers, for Christian educators, and for Sunday Schools. I hope they'll publish more Bible stories with wall clings - I'd love to give them as gifts for years to come!
A good way to start on Bible Training Oct. 4 2011

This is such a cute way to retell the story of the Flood and keep it Biblically based, the only issue that I had was that Noah's sons and their wives were not mentioned nor shown. However, I also understand most children have short attention spans and this book will open their hearts up to the truths in God's Word on their level and understanding. The cute, child friendly illustrations are done by Luana Rinaldo and will keep any child's attention as this 16 page book is read to them and tells of how much God does love us.

The book has two pages of wall clings - 21 clings in all to decorate a wall while the story is being read. The clings are colorful and match the illustrations through out the book. It is best to try these on and out of the way spot on a wall but they worked fine on our painted, white walls. After the story put them back in the book or leave them up so that your child and you can continue to have discussions about the Flood, God's Word, and how He loved us so much He eventually sent One to Save us all.

Some parents make not like the cutesy illustrations and simplistic way the story is told, however I really appreciated it as my son sat still and listened and he asked engaging questions. The book can be backed up with a reading of the actual event by pulling your Bible out and reading it in little increments. Overall, this is a wonderful addition to my children's library and I also think this would make an excellent gift for other children, either those who aren't churched or even those who are!

**I was provided a copy of this book from Kregel Publications in exchange for my honest review, no other compensation was given.
