Product Description

From America's beloved storyteller, Barbara Delinsky, comes a classic novel of one lovesick doctor and the woman who makes his heart ache with desire…

As the head of cardiology at New Haven Medical Center, Dr. Robert McCrae knows a lot about the human heart. But it's not until he spots Heather Cole's beautiful face at one of his lectures that he realizes how much more he needs to learn. From the moment he sees her, his heart skips a beat—metaphorically speaking—and his pulse rate soars. It turns out that Heather is a local hand-bag designer who's not just playing doctor; she's putting her heart on the line. Rob may be the only one who can help. But first she'll have to trust him—and take a risk on falling in love…

4.0 out of 5 stars Review of Straight from the Heart July 25 2013

Barbara Delinsky is a favorite author of mine but I hadn't read any of her books for a while and I found this book, even though, it was an early writing, to be very good. I thoroughly enjoyed it and looked forward to reading it each evening. The health issues and emotional stress of the main character were very realistic and I could relate to some of the self-induced problems they created. Well written.

This book was purchased for my Kindele from Amazon. Worrying about the unknown sends Heather to a seminar for information about her disease. What she finds out and who she meets there will change her life forever. Will it be for better or worse? This is a very well written ,exciting book and I highly recommend it for anyone. I could not put it down. Read it in 2 evenings. Mimi6

5.0 out of 5 stars Straight to my Heart Sept. 3 2014
By A. Beth - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
I read this book years ago, almost by accident. I was recovering in 1994 from chemotherapy for Hodgkins Lymphoma -- Recovery from chemotherapy takes time, and at one point in my recovery, when I just didn't feel like trying anymore, was wen Straight from the Heart showed up in the mail, unasked for. "Try it out - buy the new series". I did not buy the series, it was not my usual genre, but I did read the book. The plot complication peaked and resolved when the Doctor said to the heroine, "You are an intelligent down-to-earth woman, who's been momentarily sidetracked by what, in all fairness, was a traumatic experience. Now, you are going to put it behind you. It is over! Done! You've got a wonderful life ahead of you." . . . . and in those words, I heard God talking to me and I started living again. I also wrote Barbara about the experience - she was thrilled to have touched my live.
Loved it.

3.0 out of 5 stars It was a really weak story line... Dec 20 2012

I kept waiting for something interesting to happen. Page after page of detailed sex is boring, especially when it was so predictable.
