I ordered Strategic Stock Trading because of its great reviews, but reading the book, I wondered if they had sent me the right one. The book does contain good basic information on technical analysis, but it's mostly a sales pitch for Michael Swanson's newsletter and website. The writing is very sloppy and the tone is that of one of those "free" conferences trying to sell you a self-help scheme. The writer tells us the story of how he started from nothing and became successful at trading. He introduces us to some basic concepts like graphs and moving averages, but never goes in depth about anything. He's basically just promoting himself as a stock guru. The book does come with an offer for a free trial of Mike Swanson's newsletter, but after subscribing, all I got were dubious emails trying to sell me Swanson's newsletter; boasting about how "certain people" want to stop him from sharing his oh so valuable info about trading stocks. I have no doubt that Swanson knows a thing or two about making money in the stock market, but this book does not deliver on its promises. Anyone seeking a serious book on technical analysis should look somewhere else.
