"It's time to take the lid off learning."

In Stratosphere, Michael Fullan takes a close look at the fast-paced world of emerging technologies and argues that the inevitable influence of technology on teaching and learning must not be resisted, but rather embraced and applied in meaningful ways to positively impact school classrooms.

  • Examines connections–and disconnections– between pedagogy, technology, and change knowledge in education
  • Creates a vision for improving education by escaping the content-focused teaching of the past and embracing “the new pedagogy” of higher-order skills
  • Focuses on the harnessing of fast and innovative technologies to bring about change in classrooms, districts, states, and provinces
  • Identifies four critical elements that, at scale, have the ability to make large-scale change a reality– and easier!

Review

Stratosphere is truly the best thing I have read on technology and education.

Andy Hargreaves, Thomas More Brennan Chair, Lynch School of Education, Boston College

This is an incredibly timely book. It marks the future for education, for transforming learning modes and methods for everyone. Michael Fullan is once again leading the way for educators, with his construct of the stratosphere as an integrating and liberating force with technology and pedagogy as global partners in revisioning schools.

David Booth, Professor Emeritus, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto

Beautifully and brilliantly written, deserving of the title Stratosphere. Full of deep insights, clarity, and humor. Michael Fullan has written a truly “must-read” for those who care about and seek to deepen their understanding of exciting and new possible worlds. Th is is one great book with uniquely innovative ideas.

John Bransford, Shauna C. Larson Endowed Chair in Learning Sciences, University of Washington

Stratosphere is a must-read for anyone interested in the future of education. Fullan’s earlier works have made him an icon in the fi eld of education, but this is the best stuff he has ever written. In Stratosphere, he merges his expertise in the processes of educational change with a deep understanding of the new technologies to present a powerful plan for rethinking and reinventing education in America.

Brendan Kelly, Professor Emeritus, Mathematics, University of Toronto

5.0 out of 5 stars Educational Technology must read Sep 17 2012
By Robert John Hanrahan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book will shed serious light on integrating a full scale technology integration program. Fullan has written extensively about change, but this book really does a fantastic job addressing school and district wide technology change.

Michael Fullan is the world's greatest authority on school chnage. With Stratosphere he gives us a structure to actually be successful with the hyper seduction of technology. Without effective pedagogy and change knowledge, the fact that all our students have iPads means nothing.
