Not my cup of tea, July 26 2008

This review is from: Stratton's War (Paperback)
Wilson's novel does a good job of evoking the atmosphere of London during the Blitz, with its shortages, blackouts, and sleepless nights. However, the actual mystery/thriller part of the story isn't as well done. I found myself starting to skim after about 180 pages, as nothing much seemed to be happening. Diana Calthrop, one of the main characters, comes across as not as a pioneering female in MI5 but as a dunce. The novel's ending is inconclusive, presumably a setup for future installments.
