Walker's picture appears on the cover of this CD, but someone, the sound engineer perhaps, thought Walker's piano, a 19th century Kingman, was to be featured. Consequently, the elegant Walker sounds as if she's standing behind the piano -- and the lid is up. Buy the CD any, as (here comes the heresy, reader beware) Walker's rendition of "Die Sterne" is more moving than Fischer-Dieskau's. She also can't be beat on the Gothic horrors that Schubert set to music (on this disc, "Der Zwerg"), and on the deeply touching "Nachtstück" and "Nacht und Träume." I play bands from this CD every day -- and hear new wonders from Walker each time.
