It takes times to compile the pictures, music and video files.
But once it done compiling the video is very clear.

have a go flex one from seagate, but this one blows it away, comes with wi-fi,go flex doesn't (seagate has already put this unit out to pasture,no accessories available, third party only),and the WD cost less, they both work great, both play almost every format of video/audio,even the ones my computers won't play;Live Streaming Media Player, Wi-Fi 1080p - AVI, Xvid, MKV, MOV, FLV, VOB, MP3, MP4, MPEG & more,WD makes great stuff,a name you can count on,have 3 regular hard drives,2 network drives [one more coming]& I'm also planning on buying a 2tb portable drive & 2 4tb drives (new for 199$,as soon as the network drive becomes available,if not,it'll be 3tbs) I always save in doubles, once in the network system & once in regular drives.
better safe than sorry....

still streaming like a charm (April 3/2013)

Nice product, installing and operating is really easy. Delivered all my expectations. Thinking about buying another one as a gift.

My reason for purchasing this machine was to avoid problems with playback and compatibility that I had experienced with other units.
Even with the latest firmware, my unit is unusable.
It randomly recompiles the library when it wants, which takes half an hour at a time- this is all for some p.o.s "media library" feature that is too slow to navigate. Slow = 3 second delays per remote key press.

It freezes arbitrarily through films, sometimes for a minute, sometimes more. I'm talking about your typical media files too, most aren't even 1080p. This makes films unwatchable, you sit down with your family to watch a film and it ruins your evening.
It is less hassle to just run the film on a laptop.

My storage format is unjournaled NTFS 3TB, exactly what the manual requests for ideal compatibility.

I cannot find any offering of support from WD. There are forums dating back to 2012 detailing the same issue. They just don't give an F.
I refuse to buy anything WD again, useless company that makes useless products. I kicking myself that I wasted money on this piece of garbage.

If WI FI capability is what you are after then you might want to think twice before buying this product. I bought this product mostly to stream local media wirelessly from my laptop to my TV. Unfortunately, I have had repeated issues with this product failing to connect wirelessly, crashing, freezing, losing wireless network connections, not recognizing network settings, and on and on. At first, I thought that I had bought a defective unit. So I returned the original unit and got a replacement. I had the same problems with the replacement. I returned the replacement unit. Then I did some research on-line. I found that the problems I experienced seem to be fairly common. In my opinion, this product is not ready for prime time, if wireless is what you are after. Save yourself some frustration.
