Warts 'n all, it still delivers.,

No one's going to get an argument from me if they say that there are several moments on here that could've been dispensed with. Steve Stills entire "49 Bye-Byes/America's Children" noise rant sounded stupid back then and still does (and I LIKE Stills!)and the "electric" portion of this set never quite catches fire. But with the exception of Still's solo moment, the entire first disc is a winner. Crosby's "Lee Shore" remain's captivating after all this time and the addition of Stills' "Black Queen" to this release gains back some of the ground Stills lost with "49 Bye-Byes." Neil Young's contributions remain the strongest here, both in his solo sections and when the four team up on the Buffalo Springfield-era "On The Way Home." The addition of Nash's "King Midas In Reverse" serves as a good reminder that Nash is not always the lightweight he appears--the version here is a winner. This is not a great live album, but it has its moments and that's enough.

Its good but kinda worn out,

4 Way street is an exelent live album by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, but it can get kinda worn in places, but thats what you can expect from an album that was recorded nearly thirty years ago.All the songs are performed pretty well, and none of the performances are bad at all but 'Love The One Your With' is so much better when its the studio version, but this one isnt bad its just personal taste. I feel the same about 'Carry On' its great and all but doesnt sound the same live. I also understand that you cant expect this to be perfect since it is live but what are you gonna do, right? All the other songs are performed flawlessly and come across clear and well done. This is a great live album like I said even though it is worn in places and has a few low points, there are more high points then low so it more then makes up for where it lags behind.

The acoustic side has its ups and down, but the electric side is the best live album of all time. Easily kicks Allmans Fillmore and any live Hendrix or any other for that matter. Stills and Young ROCK!!!! Get it and turn it up!!!!!
