This Microsoft Streets and Trips 2013 comes in one DVD disk. It covers Canada, the continental U.S., Hawaii, and Mexico. Installation is simple and quick. Activation online or by phone is required. Using the software is simple - just type the address of interest into the search box, or use the mouse to point and click on the default map to get to the desired location. Use the route planner to plan a route from start to finish. A couple of features may interest the techies - uploading map information as a text message to a mobile device and linking the software to GPS. For uploading map info, one must have Microsoft Outlook installed and mobile service with data access. For GPS linkup, one must have a GPS device connected to the computer. Since I don't have the necessary setups, I have to leave these features to other reviewers. As I browsed through the maps, I have noticed inaccuracies or omissions, mostly in the rural or remote areas. Nevertheless, this Streets and Trips 2013 is a good alternative to GPS, which can be expensive, or Google Maps, which can be a pain to use due to net congestion.
