Book Description

June 15 2002 Bruce Lee Library
Striking Thoughts: Bruce Lee's Wisdom for Daily Living is an unparalleled volume of Lee's own writings on the wisdom that he used to shape his extraordinary life. Editor John Little, in the tradition of Tuttle's other Bruce Lee Library titles, uses his unprecedented access to Lee's writings to cull the words of the legendary martial artist, actor, and philosopher into this soulful, personal collection.

With over 800 entries, covering more than 70 topics from spirituality to personal liberation and from family life to filmmaking, it offers an amazing direct transmission of the beliefs Bruce Lee lived by.

Striking Thoughts: Bruce Lee's Wisdom for Daily Living provides a great legacy—a book for all who seek truth, but have not yet found it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never Be Too Much Help April 23 2004
Format:Paperback
Whether or not you study JKD or anything similar, it doesn't matter...you will keep on continuing to learn from one of the most influential people of our lifetime. This book doesn't have "the answer" per say. But neither did Bruce, as he said...he is only a guide...it is up to us to find our own truth, our own "way". So to the people that get this book. Just read it, and move on...keep moving.

4.0 out of 5 stars A new side to a well known man Sept. 30 2003
Format:Hardcover
Before finding this book I was unaware of Bruce Lee's work in Philosophy. I am a Phil major myself, and I found the balance of western and eastern thought refreshing. A lot of Philosophy is grouped in long wordy essays that make it somewhat a stratified ivory tower type of field. Lee's book is organzied in easy to read, simple koans, proverbs and sayings.
To one who has read a great deal of Buddhism, Pyschology, or Eastern thought, they may read a lot of what they may have already read. But this book doesn't disappoint, there are some quality nuggets in here. Bruce says much in few words, his eloquence can be stunning & profound.
Although I'm not really into martial arts or anything like that I always revered him in a certain light, in fitness, command, and eloquence.
Worth a read, I have new respect for Bruce Lee.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond JKD Feb. 19 2002
Format:Hardcover
I am enlightened and motivated by Bruce Lee's insight into the human condition. I am a student of Jeet Kune Do; his words hit harder than his punches ever will! Our foremost perceptions of Bruce Lee's life are bound to images of a martial arts master; however, in this book we see a very different Bruce Lee. His words of wisdom are easy to read and are more importantly, easy to apply to one's life.

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing guide.......... Sept. 3 2001
Format:Hardcover
After reading the introduction to this book, I realized that Bruce Lee may just be thought of as one of the most powerful thinkers of the 20th century. His ability to express his personal views on life and everything around us in very few words, yet, pack each statement with such power, is phenomenol. To pick up this book, and just read a couple of pages, leaves me with heartfelt inspiration. Inspiration that i take into my day, and put it into my daily actions.

To all, even with no previous knowledge of Bruce Lee this is a book which those of a philosophical nature, liking to question many things in life an look for inspiration about many aspects of life must read! it is a deeply inpsirational book spanning many thoughts on many aspects of life an human beings. many just know him as a movie 'star,' but not many know the other side of his life, his philosophy! it is a deep insight into his thoughts and feelings which many dont take into account when discussing him but in all totality he was a great man with a great mind who shouldnt just be ignored! but those who have the chance to read his philosophy should and be inspired!!

Great read that compliments a glimpse of what the man was about... Bruce is about energy and living life to live...
....
Bruce inspired me to initially look for the best and accept growth/change as vital part of life since I didn't have a male figure to guide me as a kid. Definitely recommended to single moms out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth a good read April 21 2001
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
When Bruce Lee wrote the contents of this book, I don't think his concerns lay in the creation of a text which conforms to the institutionalised and narrow teachings of Universities which create narrow minded 'philosophers' - I believe his philosophy was exactly that - his - and it was his way of looking at the world and coping with it, which I might add couldn't have been far wrong looking at his achievements. If you are open minded and interested in the thinking and workings of the mind which created a true icon and hero... I suggest reading this book. It does not concern the futile questions often found in philosophy I am sure, but it concerns things that those of us who aren't philosophers can relate to - life, day to day problems. Worth a good read it if you have any interest in Bruce Lee and even if you don't.
