CSS3 adds powerful new functionality to the web’s visual style language to help you create beautiful and engaging designs more easily than ever. With CSS3, you can create eye-catching visual effects such as semitransparent backgrounds, gradients, and drop shadows without using images; display text in beautiful, unique, non-web-safe fonts; create animations without Flash; and customize a design to the user’s unique device or screen size without JavaScript.

You’ll learn how to accomplish these effects and more by working through a series of practical yet cutting-edge projects. Each chapter walks you through standalone exercises that you can integrate into projects you’re working on, or use as inspiration. You’ll learn all of the most popular, useful, and well-supported CSS3 techniques, plus:

  • How to use CSS3 to enhance your pages, not just in terms of looks, but also in terms of usability, accessibility, and efficiency
  • When and how to provide workarounds and fallbacks for older, non-supporting browsers
  • How to create stunning designs with unique typography and beautiful graphic details
  • Advanced new selectors to streamline your markup and make it less prone to human errors
  • New methods for creating multiple-column layouts
  • How to quickly and easily create mobile-optimized web designs without using scripting

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning CSS3, Feb 20 2011
By Mountain Coder - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Stunning CSS3: A project-based guide to the latest in CSS (Paperback)
Just the book I've been looking for. Its project based approach with downloadable files from the book's website makes learning easy. It's not a beginners book - you need a reasonable grasp of HTML and basic CSS to put it to good use - but it teaches CSS3 very effectively. So much vital info is packed into it, especially about media queries, embedding fonts and CSS graphic techniques. I also found it a vital reference listing loads of useful links under each topic for exploring the nooks and crannies of CSS3. Finally, with so much interest in Responsive Web Design now that CSS media queries are supported on A class browsers, it will prove an excellent introduction to anyone wanting to build a site that adapts to the multitude of browsing devices flooding the market in 2011 - including iPhones, iPads, netbooks, notebooks and even widescreen desktops. It's the right book at just the right time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic and useful, Feb 10 2011
By Squire Man - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Stunning CSS3: A project-based guide to the latest in CSS (Paperback)
This book is great,

it gives you insights in the new way of coding your pages with css3 new features, along
with great examples through the book.

The book gives you also knowledge of great techniques (usable too in css2) like to make
'image-free' triangles with border property... !!

The book is well written, easy to read, fully colored, full of extra-links of useful references and tools.

Notice: this book is not for beginners (they could read the great O'Reilly CSS Missing Manual first)
and it's supposed that you have a good grasp of CSS coding before starting reading this book.

then this book it's a GREAT WINNER !!!!!

it may deserves 6 stars !!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great walkthrough to CSS3, Mar 31 2011
By hawkii - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Stunning CSS3: A project-based guide to the latest in CSS (Paperback)
I bought this after seeing a recommendation on Twitter. I was interested in learning more about CSS3 with a prior knowledge of CSS. This book is not only a cracking introduction to the new properties introduced with CSS3, but gives you a complete overview of how to use them, with full colour examples. Thorough explanations are provided and - one of the really useful parts of the book that makes it my first CSS reference - multiple web addresses for relevant content online.

I'm really glad I bought this book, it's made my life easier and is perfectly pleasant to thumb through for specific info. I'd recommend it to anyone who wanted to know more about CSS3!
