Book Description

May 10 2011
Do you ever get the feeling America's mounting problems are too grave to have happened by accident? You're far from alone. America is under siege as radicals determined to pulverize the U.S. Constitution deliberately bankrupt the nation, destroy the electoral system, and drive the economy into the ground. How do you destroy a great nation? Sap its citizens' self-respect and encourage civil unrest. It's no coincidence that the welfare rolls are exploding everywhere and there's no end in sight. An appalling 1 in 7 Americans now receives food stamps and there are 70 bloated federal welfare programs. The failed War on Poverty that started in President Lyndon Johnson's time has cost taxpayers a staggering $16 trillion - and President Obama, who killed the welfare reforms of the 1990s, wants to spend $10 trillion more! To help distribute the wealth even more, radicals handcuffed banks and forced them to give mortgages to people on welfare who had no chance of paying it back. This isn't so-called social justice: it's slow-motion national suicide. How did a country with a respect for economic freedoms unparalleled in all of history ever get to this point? Marxist professors and agitators Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven spent their lives trying to destroy the system-- American capitalism and democracy-- in order to drag the country kicking and screaming into a socialist nightmare. They thought that if Americans could be strong-armed into going on welfare in large numbers radical change would surely follow. Liberals worked hand-in-hand with Communists and other extremists to undermine the American system by giving activists taxpayer money to bring it down. Come again? Even now most Americans don't realize that their taxes subsidize radical activist armies like those created by the late professional radical Saul Alinsky. These revolutionary organizations flourished and became a permanent force to be reckoned with on the nation's political landscape. They're still on the scene today. The most important of them is the notorious ACORN - Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now - a Cloward-Piven spinoff. With Enron-style accounting practices and an elaborate corporate structure that puts international money launderers to shame, ACORN is unlike any other political strike force in U.S. history. Part pressure group, part urban terrorist network, part organized crime syndicate, ACORN claims only to want to help the poor. But it views the elimination of America's free institutions as the only way to help the less fortunate. ACORN, President Obama's favorite community organizing group, is all about massive voter fraud, home invasions, rent-a-mob services, intimidation, corporate shakedowns, and brutal Saul Alinsky-approved tactics. And rumors of ACORN's death have been greatly exaggerated. The group that became synonymous with sleaze and corruption when its employees were shown encouraging illegal behavior in the pimp and prostitute videos of 2009 is alive and well - and planning to resurface before the critical 2012 elections. While ACORN declared bankruptcy, its state chapters were busy changing their names and shredding documents. ACORN's still out there operating because it never lets a good crisis go to waste. Subversion Inc., by investigative reporter Matthew Vadum, isn't just the story of ACORN. It's the story of how community organizers just like President Obama are undermining America from within.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is immensely readable and informative May 10 2011
By mekongdelta69 - Published on
Before commenting on the contents of Subversion, I need to say that this book is immensely readable. For a book containing so many documented facts, some people might think that a book like this would be somewhat dry. It is not. You will cut through the first hundred pages faster than Obama and ACORN have been cutting through our country with their socialist agendas. Matthew Vadum said in his book, he could have written 2,000 pages, but chose to make it a reasonable length for readability. I could make this review almost as long as his finished product, but I will also make it a reasonable length for readability.

Are you a straight white conservative Christian or Jewish male American citizen who believes America is the greatest country in the history of the world? Do you value the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence? Do you believe in capitalism, free market economy, equal opportunity (but NOT equal outcome), freedom, lower taxes, smaller government, making it on your own, personal privacy, giving to charities of your OWN choice and not favoring one group of people over another?
Then ACORN does NOT like you.

Do you believe in socialism, government intrusion into every aspect of your life, affirmative action, quotas, set-asides and special rights for every government approved and designated victims groups? Do you believe that indoctrination of your children and grandchildren by academia at every level, left-wing media and entertainment to get them to believe that everything which used to be normal is now abnormal and everything which used to be abnormal is now normal? Do you believe in government, via their minions, such as ACORN, should make you pay for everyone else's health care, `free' housing, `free' food, welfare and a hundred other programs for the `poor,' the `oppressed' and of course, the `children,' while you struggle to keep your family's heads above water? Do you believe the very fabric of this country should be torn down and replaced by some kind of fantasy socialist `utopia,' where the `elites' (who envision `they' know better than `you' how you should run your own lives) rule and you are simply a serf, who is there to do their bidding? Do you believe in your loss of happiness, liberty and freedom? Do you believe in `social justice'? Do you believe in dictatorship?

Do any of these individual and group names ring a bell?:
Barack Obama, Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Saul Alinsky, Wade Rathke, Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), Weather Underground (WU), the National Welfare Rights Organization, George Wiley, Lynne Stewart, Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC), the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), the Democrat Party, Bertha Lewis, Richard Cloward, Frances Fox Piven, Project Vote, Karl Marx, the (Old and New) Black Panther Party, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Jeremiah Wright, Michael Pfleger, Noam Chomsky, Tom Hayden, Cornel West, the New York Times, Al Franken, Kweisi Mfume, Chaka Fattah, Antonio Villaraigosa, Maxine Waters, Paul Begala, Dennis Kucinich, Barney Frank, Pat Leahy, Dick Durbin, Kirsten Gillibrand, Roland Burris, John Kerry, Jerrold Nadler, Deval Patrick, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Thomas Menino, Bank of America, Chase Manhattan Bank, Chemical Bank, Maude Hurd, John McCain (yes, really), Charlie Christ, Arnold Schwarzenegger (also yes, really), Ron Dellums, America Coming Together (ACT), the ACLU, the AFL-CIO, the America Federation of Teachers (AFT), the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, MoveOn, NAACP, National Education Association (NEA), La Raza, George Soros, the Open Society Institute (OSI), Planned Parenthood, Organizing for America (OFA), Rainbow PUSH, Sierra Club, Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), Tides Foundation and Center, and literally hundreds of other names I could list if I had the room.
Would you like to know how all the above (listed or unlisted) are interconnected in some way? Are you interested in knowing where ACORN gets all their millions to fund their radical endeavors (besides your tax dollars)? Would it shock you to know that some of the most prestigious (and far-left) Foundations and Banks (who control hundreds of billions of dollars), either give willingly to ACORN or are extorted and threatened to do so?

Would you like to know the more than 370 groups ACORN controls? Would you like to know their entire history and how their radical tactics have allowed them to co-opt the Democratic Party and worm their way into every corner of the government bureaucracy, right up to and including the Community Organizer In Chief? Would you like to find out just how this criminal organization (and I mean criminal in the literal sense), is the cause of violent riots, sit ins, demonstrations, money laundering, takeovers of buildings and institutions, extortion, racketeering, voter fraud, harassment, intimidation, tax cheating, bullying, assault, treating their own underpaid employees like garbage and all the other ways and means they use to get their way? Ways in which North Korea, Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, the Mafia, the drug cartels, organized gangs, Hamas, Hezbollah, Al Qaeda, the Taliban and others would all be proud to include on their resumes.

There is way more enlightening information in this book, just as jaw dropping as the above. Get this book, read it thoroughly, educate yourselves and by the time 2012 rolls around, if you vote for the same guy who's in office now, shame on you, because that means you identify and agree with everything ACORN does. Hopefully, for our country's sake, you will push that lever for anyone besides the current power structure which wants to tear down this country as we've known it since its inception.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read! Feb. 28 2013
By Blessed Truth - Published on

This book is very well written, and very informative. If you can get through the wordiness, you will come to understand what is presently happening in the USA, and how this all came about. Scary that things have come to this point. This book helps to make sense of who is who, and how they got to where they are, and where they/we are headed.

5.0 out of 5 stars ACORN Remains a Threat to the United States May 17 2011
By David Thomson - Published on
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
ACORN has not disappeared. The national organization's formal dissolution via bankruptcy has simply compelled it to be split into smaller local groups with differing names. It is also still committed to pushing socialism down the throats of unwilling Americans. The writings of Saul Alinsky guide the organization's operational policies. Outright lying and criminal activity are second nature to ACORN's leadership. Matthew Vadum provides countless well documented examples of such deceitful behavior. "ACORN is a nonprofit version of Enron, the infamous failed energy company that imploded under the pressure of hopelessly confusing, misleading, and illegal accounting practices," adds the author. Barack Obama has a close relationship with these ideological thugs. We can take it for granted the president will continue helping them behind the scenes. ACORN has fraudulently helped Democrats win a number of elections. It is existentially hostile towards Republicans and constitutional government. ACORN advocates soft totalitarianism. Vadum's book must be read by everybody who lives in an area directly threatened by ACORN. Your vote is in serious jeopardy. The same holds true for your local economy. Pay attention immediately---or you may live to regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars More than Just ACORN Here! July 17 2012
By Bernard Chapin - Published on
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I don't know Matt Vadum personally but was pleasantly surprised by how superb this book was. I purchased it thinking it was about the left in general--after all it's about subversion!--but was somewhat disappointed to see it addressed ACORN alone. Well, I'm a little ACORNed out at this point, but Vadum dissects the left on aggregate throughout. Overall, his discussion is very educational and thorough. It's a combination of great analysis and great reporting. I make videos on youtube and I wanted to educate concerning Saul Alinsky along with the Cloward-Piven Strategy so I will be making use today of the material Vadum offers in chapters 4 and 5 as a text from which to instruct. This author summarizes Rules for Radicals and the "Weight of the Poor" approach to overwhelming the government with welfare payments better than just about anything I've read before. It's a succinct and persuasive account. I often come up with lists of things that I wish to cleave off of the federocracy, and that list is lengthy, but the 80 million in Housing and Urban Development grants that ACORN has fleeced off of the federal government suggests that HUD should be at the top of any budget cuts in the future. Great stuff, great read!
