Sullivan's Last Stand, Dec 26 2001

Harper Allen delivers her second tale of The Avengers in "Sullivan's Last Stand." When her sister disappears, Bailey Flowers blames her former lover, Terrence Sullivan. Sullivan's detective agency was investigating her sister. Now both the investigator and Bailey's sister are missing. Can Bailey work with Sullivan to find out what happened, and uncover the secrets that kept them apart?
Allen's Intrigues tend to be thoroughly different and imaginative. "Sullivan's Last Stand" is no exception, an interesting puzzle told in her distinctive voice. I don't think I've ever read a mystery quite like this in romantic suspense, full of unexpected twists and shifts in direction. As always, readers looking for a breath of fresh air in the often stagnant world of romantic suspense will find it here. Her heroine is strong and fiery, her hero full of dark charm, and their story culminates in another spectacular, emotional and unforgettable climax. This is the perfect companion to the wonderful first Avengers book, "Guarding Jane Doe," not letting down readers in the least. Probably the best one-two punch since the first two books in Gayle Wilson's Men of Mystery series. Don't miss it!

GREAT TRILOGY - REFRESHING CONCEPT, May 7 2008

Sullivan's Last Stand [2nd book in trilogy] It was almost his last stand - following the Irish legend.
Bailey Flowers is hot under the color about her missing sibling, Angelica Plowright.
Hank Jackson, who worked for Sullivan's Investigations, was doing some sleuthing for Angel and now he has disappeared.
Angel was afraid that her billionaire husband was going to make her his next ex. She was sure that he was having another affair.
Bailey was under a full head of steam when she confronted Terrence Patrick Sullivan. He should have known where Hank was. Bailey was laying all the blame for Angel's disappearance on Hank. Sullivan had not been paying attention and didn't know Hank was missing. But none of this would be Hank's fault.
Sullivan had fallen hard for Bails but then walked out on her. Because of the Legend.
Bailey was going to prove that she was over him. She just wanted to find Angel and be done with it. But therein started the whole mystery of what happened to Angel.
Of courst the hormones got an extra charge and were off and running.
Could Bailey save Sullivan from the Legend when he was one of the toughest soldiers-for-hire available before he left off being a mercenary.
The Legend, the mystery and them fighting their own sultry attractions made for a seriously enthalling plot.
We get to meet Aaron Plowright who was being photographed on his illicit weekend with a mystery woman.
Then there was Tracy Weiss, an ambitious attorney and also Aaron's illigitimate daughter
Donny Fitzgerald of the Boston Police is again in the picture with a new temperary partner, Pete Straub. I get the idea that Fitz was also part of Quinn's and Sully's merc group.
Ah yes, Sully has a half-sister Ainsley [take note of her] and her adopted daughter, Tara. [Very neat injection into the story]
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED --m - Definitely a Keeper set.
