A weak, lazy comedy about an easygoing teacher (Mark Harmon, whose movie career never had the kind of trajectory that his TV work did) who is forced to teach--you guessed it--summer school. What's worse, he gets exactly the kind of kids you'd expect: the losers and slackers who are forced to make up the work they didn't complete during the year. He tries to duck work and let them fend for themselves. But in this mushy Carl Reiner film, the teacher offers some life lessons to his band of delinquents and--surprise, surprise--the kids impart a lesson or two to their teacher, as well. Ok I have read all the reviews and no one really said this so I will. Anyone who knows who Richard Horvitz is needs to watch this movie. Yes I am talking about the genius voice actor. (Zim/Billy/Rodney/Daggett) Richard is very funny in this movie. He was very young and just a blast to watch. So any fans of his work, buy this movie now. The disappointment to this dvd for me is not including EG Daily's music video for Mind Over Matter. That should have been on there.

'Summer School' is truly the funniest movie in the history of film. You've gotta get past the 1987 styles and fashion, but once u do that...this movie is the great. Dave, Chainsaw, the pregnant surfer...ahh, you gotta see it to know what I mean. A cinematic classic. Its about time it came out on DVD. Go buy it now.
