1.0 out of 5 stars Toaster is plastic, and it melts Jan. 2 2009
By D.G.G. - Published on Amazon.com
I was looking for a basic, no frills toaster; this seemed to fit the bill.
However, the body is plastic, and after toasting english muffins in it twice (on a lite/med setting), the plastic surround of the openings/slots for the bread/muffin/bagel, melted all around.
Sunbeam used to be good brand; this is such a shoddy product I wonder if it even is a Sunbeam, or a knock-off.
Amazon's review process will not let me select no stars in order to post a review, so I had to give it one star in order to proceed. But the product is really zero stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect toaster Oct. 28 2006
By B. Baker - Published on Amazon.com
It's the perfect toaster -- simple, inexpensive, very attractive, has a neat feature that allows you to lift up a short piece of toast to give you easy access, and makes perfect toast.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Toaster July 21 2008
By Nancy Drew2 - Published on Amazon.com
I've owned several Sunbeam products and have always been pleased, until this toaster. The first piece of toast is ok, but after that watch out! You have to stand over the toaster making sure it doesn't burn the toast and even if you lower the temperature, it's bad to burn one side of the toast. Toasters never last long so I decided to get a cheaper one this time around. I guess I got just what I paid for--a junker.

3.0 out of 5 stars Old was better Nov. 29 2012

Bought this toaster, because my last toaster was a Sunbeam, and I loved it.
Was dissapointed that this one is not similar to the old one.
The old one was timed. Every notch you turned it up, lit one more LED, and you could visually watch it countdown the cook time. It gave about 20 seconds for every notch you turned it up.
I checked the Sunbeam site. They don't offer on like that any more. I am sad that great was replaced by so-so.
It cooks fine, but if you move settings, you may burn toast getting it to the right setting.
Not sure what the mechanism is that times it. But is is not as dependable as the old one was.

For the price -- it is still a good toaster.
But if Sunbeam sees this -- know that I would spend more to get my old toaster back.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shoddy construction... June 21 2012
By M. James - Published on Amazon.com
Purchased the toaster today and decided to give it a test run before breakfast in the morning. Put the bread in and pushed the lever down... which proceeded to snap off in my hand. This one will be going back tomorrow. As another reviewer said 'I guess toasters aren't an area you can skimp on..."
